The Dutch Defeated, The Norse Nerfed, The Danes Given A Stern Talking To.
After the Altmark Incident, it was evident that the Norweigans couldn't protect their own neutraility. So we decided we'd have to do it for them!
And of course, it was essential that we closed off the Copenhagen strait, so that our Baltic coastline remained unharrassed.
Immediately, Lt. General Schorner took his corps of Mountaineers across the Danish fronteer, where they met brave, but weak resistance from elements of a division commanded by Mj. General Von Harbou
However, luckily for us, and Danish troops that didn't have a deathwish, the Danish government had no stomach for war, and quickly capitulated to Schorner's forces.
Now our Navy and transport ships were free to pass through to invade Norway, and the first troops stormed ashore on the morning of the 9th of April to desultory resistance. Our naval forces faced a tougher battle, as the entire Norweigan navy sallied forth from Oslo, but they were soon put to flight with the loss of a capital ship.
Further troops landed shortly afterwards, and our advance began.
Further South, with all traces of Winter weather gone, our plans for the low Countries were put into action.
The Panzer forces quickly cut through Dutch defences and reached Rotterdam with shocking haste. However, the Dutch infantry fought back bravely and our infantry took heavy losses, but our superior numbers soon told and the Dutch fell back.
Our tanks then turned North and struck towards the capital, which was quickly taken, and the remaining forces were trapped in two separate pockets, and they quickly surrendered.
Belgiums continued neutrality throughout this period was indeed puzzling, considering that France flew significant numbers of aircraft to the aid of the Dutch, although not quickly enough to stop the advance of the Panzers.
The stupidity of the Belgians would not save them, however
On the other hand, the Norweigans weren't stupid, and lacking enough forces to defend their coastline, had concentrated in Oslo and Trondheim. However, being smart was not enough to save them
Will the French be able to come to the rescue of the Belgians and halt the relentless advances of the Wehrmacht? Will the British come to the aid of the Norweigans?
We can only hope they do not - for Germany must, and shall be victorious.
(I'll likely need two more updates to cover the Battle of France, as it'll likely take a while and be screenshot heavy. Or the French might collapse and I'll go give the creators of DAIM a stern talking to
Either way, France should be dead and buried by tomorrow night)
