I just have to say one thing about Great Britain... And that is that they are idiots!

On my current German game. I mopped up Poland and Denmark by November before moving my forces west to begin "Case White" against the Dutch; Belgians and French. I dealt with the Dutch in about 2 weeks. But then. in a three months span starting from January 1940 (right at the end of my Dutch campign) to April 11th, 1940. (When France collapsed and joined the Axis)* The British and her allies preceded to try and invade the Netherlands. Five times!

Instead of trying to beef up the BEF or assist France in anyway against my unstoppable Panzer Armies that were slicing through the French Army like butter. The Commonwealth wastes hundreds of thousands of men invading the Netherlands five separate times.

If I was the British public or a member of the British government right now I would be outraged.

Of course. I don't think the Germans are complaining at all. :D

Ofcourse, the AI is retarded. They almost never actually launches a full scale invasion, more like small blobs of low quality soldiers. I had South Africa invade Copenhaugen there I had stationized some garrisons and super heavy tanks, preparing to take Sweden. They lost 5000 soldiers in 1 battle before retreating...

The Allies sure are invasion happy from time to time. I've had to contend with a 150.000 strong British invasion up in the far north of Norway, shortly after France fell.
A quickly deployed corps of infantry prevented them from taking Narvik, and the small port of Kirkenes couldn't supply them of course. It still took me months o dig them out.

Had they send those troops to France, they might've actually saved their ally. But no, of course not.

At the moment I'm playing a game as Axis-Netherlands. The Continent has fallen, Germany has invadet the SU and I and Japan are carving up GBs Colonies to hunger the brits out (this is one of my first games, so I don't know if this is usefull at all). Than, one day I got invadet. By six or seven canadian divisions landing near Amsterdam, where most of my forces where. And to top it: Intead of securing a supply harbor and a bridgehead, the whole canadian invasionforce was heading straight into germany... It even took me a while to catch up with them to pocket them together with the Germans. There where other canadian invasionatempts after that, but I could stop them from landing this time. So year, they seem to be very invasion happy without thinking about it.

Ah yes; very much the case indeed. Most of the invasion forces the Commonwealth sent in their five attempts were small and pitful groups of infantry with little to no armor. The large force that invaded during the five tries was I believe the British forces that invaded Den Haag the second time. Which were about 100,000 men in strength. However. Since most of my Western Army was in the area cleaning up partisans and British units in France. They were squashed like a annoying pest before they could break out of their pocket.

The Allies sure are invasion happy from time to time. I've had to contend with a 150.000 strong British invasion up in the far north of Norway, shortly after France fell.

It took me weeks to deal with most of them. The only one that took longer then a month was the first one; Which came from Leeuwarden. It only lasted that long however because I didn't have troops in the area. So it took me a while to redeploy assets from the Benelux and France Northwards to combat the invasion force.

The AI really has no sense of real strategic priorities or neccessity. Otherwise they might actually help their allies instead of say "Screw It... I'm invading the Netherlands five times and wasting thousands of men"

It's better than when the Allies and Japan never invaded anything. Germany could leave France with no covering force and the British would sit there and be scared.

One thing that keeps the British from invading is actually putting decent sized garrisons on all ports. With all the ports covered with enough troops, the British don't waste their time or resources invading.

I abuse to to astronomical levels. With an invasion of the UK ready, I decided to weaken up the home Islands by leaving all of Northern France completely undefended, like clockwork, the British landed troops there, more, and more, and more. I then called the Italians to arms, who then swept across African and the Middle East is just over a month, and secured the entire Mediterranean. Then I launched my invasion and took all of Southern England in two weeks.

Then I mopped up the nearly 500,000 strong force in Northern France, who were at this point out of supply, and without air support.

Needless to say, that was fun.
