When a betrothed person comes of age, there should be a modifier something around the lines of "++ Agreed to a betrothal" for the liege negotiating the marriage. Otherwise it seems the AI has no incentive to follow through on their contract, even if the person who just came of age is only barely considered too good for the marriage.

AI is breaking betrothals now? Last time I had the situation (not yet in 1.07) they are ignoring what was proposed at the beginning... and spam you with their preferred variant of marriage, forcing you to break betrothal for a opinion penalty.

But AI should definetely has "++". Maybe even "++++": "Agreed to Matrilineal Betrothal ++++". :)

I've never had the AI break a betrothal however like DamianGrim said I have had the AI offer regular marriage rather than matrilineal like it was supposed to be.

Yeah the AI won't break betrothals. I wish they would. Instead they force you to break them because they never agree to the marriages they originally accept and want a new marriage in their favor.

For this reason I never make bethrothals with anyone under 16. Seems like there is a 90% chance the AI won't agree to it when the person comes of age.

Exactly. I arrange an early matrilineal betrothal which I'm then forced to break because the Lord doesn't agree to it now after 10 years of being ok with it. The betrothal shouldn't be binding, you can be allowed to change your mind, but the player shouldn't be forced to take all the penalties in all cases.

Give them more +++++. This is an outrage! How dare they break our marriage agreement!

Breaking a betrothal by AI shouldn't be automatic nevertheless, in case they're swinging between yes and no with this single + you could get with a gift. How about breaking a betrothal after a year of having it at a "no"?

If a ruler breaks a matralineal betrothal of a male child in line for succession, the no longer betrothed female (would have been spouse) should get a weak claim on their kingdom.

They do brake them now it was changed in some patch but there still seems to be some bugs that cause them not to do so.

I guess I have the bug then as I've had to break 3 betrothals now, in one case their kid wasn't "all that" but the AI had a skills modifier. It seems this happened less with Agnatic-Cog-Primo succession and happens more with Elective, which would kinda make sense but then I wish they wouldn't agree in the first place.
