As it currently is the AI is always just thinking blobbing. and it blobs in the path of least resistance often helping to destroy realms between them and blobs that will eventually destroy them. It needs a function for recognizing "this realm is somewhat close to me and is powerful enough to pose a threat, i should save my troops and wait for a good opportunity to weaken them". Or even start looking to form some alliances with it's enemies.

Instead as in my current game Francia will attack asturias if asturias inherits a single county in francia toppling the entire iberian peninsula in the hands of the ummayds who are more than capable of conquering francia once they are done with asturias. I also saw them attack both middle and eastern francia over stupid claims leaving them open to be raided to death and now Catholicism sits on 0% MA and francia is having a huge number of heretic uprisings. Seriously the pope should start threatening excommunication for catholic rulers fighting other catholics when the MA is under 25%.

And it's not jsut the catholics, Abyssinia goes after the nubians weakening them so they get conquered by egypt, The byzantines do the same with georgia and armenia opening them up the the nomads and the abbasids/seljuks. Same thing with the rus tribes who pretty much always fight each other until the event spawned troops of the two vikings conquerors are spent then get conquered by the khazar.

Essentially the AI needs a sense of self preservation. They are playing like players who's only consequence of a bad war is that they may need to start a new campaign, not like people who's life and legacy depends on the outcome of every war.

Edit: And it just happened again, Francia declared on saxony who are fending of a planned invasion, why because saxony holds a single barony in francia...
