Not just with you but with eachother. I hate seeing a fully claimed africa sit there with no real colonies. Everyone on earth is better off having the colonies fully claimed because there will be more resources available on the world market for them to buy.

totaly agree, as Italy, sold some land for claims, i had 7 claims to Britians 1 in and african colony, and for a claim & 5 techs + $70k with relations of 197 , still would not sell

BB seems to play a role, yes, but it seems to be relative, like the BB wars. as (a big) itlay i have a BB of app. 30 and no problems to get a 3 non-core-provinces for 5 nc-provinces deal with my best friends france, austria, spain and soon ottos concluded. but attention, if you want to trade land, your trading partner has to have land or naval access, else he doesnt give you anything for it.

I find trading for the "last" claim is very difficult unless you can offer a similar "final missing" claim, even if you have +200 relations and all that.

So, the AI could be weary of trading "colony-enabling" claims..

Yep, I managed a nice trade with Britain that way. I got three of their claimed provinces and they got 2 I'd just taken from Russia plus a bit of cash (iirc). And the same turn two fresh colonies were created and the future borders of Africa were drawn (as this essentially led to an all French west Africa, the Brits will have to deal with Turkish Congo on their own).

Has anyone had the AI offer to buy a claim from them in 1.03? In 1.01 and 1.02 I was always offered £1500 and a tech which was never enough for me. I thought the AI's crappy offers might be the reason why they never tade claims.

In 1.03 the AI has never offered me any deals, I always have to go and offer them deals. I don't know if they just don't like me or they don't have anything interesting to give me. :D

1.02 I think as Texas US offered to buy one of the colonies of mine, the one that US has colonies on, offered me almost no cash and I think maybe a tech, which wasn't gonna help me. I later quit that game due to boredioticness :).

The last game I played I took the Transvaal and immediatly overrun the Oranje, annexing it. By 1875 I had aquired several colonial territories and given them state rights and had a basic infrastructure (level II railroad + some factories) created, and got into a war with Russia over its central African colonies. I won, but what bugs: I wasn't given the territory I wanted and had already occupied, I was given two territories at the Black Sea and one at the Pacific Ocean's coast! WTF? Shouldn't the offers of the defeated nation be somewhat related to the actual claims of the winner???

I've had AI offers in 1.02 (started with that patch) 2 or 3 times, always for 1500 and 3x same tech. I've had it once in 1.03, but that's all, and I've never seen AIs trade claims among themselves.

Yep, in 1.03 the ai still offers £1500.00 and some techs. It's offer also never seems to change. You'd think Britain would understand that I'm not going to hand a claim closing down the heart of Africa for such a measly offer;-)

Just to think that building up a claim cost at least £7000.00, the ai should offer more, much more.

I take 1500 and a tech or two EVERY SINGLE TIME for a claim. when the AI offers you techs you do not need to pay the RP for them. this is a huge benefit regardless of the tech. It is almost worth setting up situations where the AI has all the claims but yours just to get these offers..........

and yes the AI needs to learn to trade withitself to make colonies. I am of sick of no colonies in africa. (seing the UK grab russian colonies during crimea would be realistic and a nice way to make colonization less russian)

It still offers the same tech multiple times? That was meant to be fixed in 1.03 :(

I've seen it only once, but yes, it was in 1.03 (and had it 2-3 times in 1.02, but that's history).
