There is a quite valid point hidden behind this thread: mission trees should ideally not include bottlenecks that are based on conditions that are too specific and that you can easily miss out on.
Now, that is indeed a valid point, as i've learned while designing mission trees for my mod. Or, at the very least, if there is such a bottleneck, it has to really be justified... i've seen a case or too where i could justify it.... it usually isn't.

And, as you say, the example in this thread is not relevant for this question.
