I have seen it declare like 6 times on some island nation and never once landed successfully. The knights still stand. Same with brunei despite being declared on by britain, netherlands, russia (thrice)

The AI doesn't do naval invasions

AI used to be better at naval landings in previous patches. Think the recent AI changes have increased their fear of the manpower losses that would occur too much, these are an obvious cost that a human player would consider acceptable but apparently not the AI nowadays.
What patch was it better at in recent patches? Or just when euros were amazing?
Not that long ago, I'm remembering back to late last year in my earlier post. 1.32 I think?
I owned Sardinia and Corsica and remember the AI landing on these islands in several different wars over my Mare Nostrum run.
It's happened to me when I played in India. Spain, UK or some big colonial bois would declare war and never land any troops. They blockade my ports though, which is really annoying, since I could not beat their combined navies, but can definitely beat any of their landing attempts.
Eventually, I could get a white peace or minor concessions, but it is still very annoying.

AI manages to land in Europe when island has more than one province, Corsica and Sardinia are connected and have 4 provinces. Invading Rhodes, Cyprus, Gotland is much harder and invading places like Socotra is almost impossible for the AI
It could be because AI doesn't want to land on forts and needs to have enough troops to siege the fort
I just had Denmark declare war on Scotland.
Denmark had a huge navy and 40k troops ready.
Scotland just lost a war to me and was 4 provinces, no allies with 0 army or navy .
Guess who won .....
Yeah.. Scotland won bcs Denmark never made a landing.
So yeah def. AI is totally incompetent in that field.

I have the opposite experience when playing as former colonial nations. Countries like Castile and Portugal disembark troops on me most of the time when I declare independence as a colonial nation (assuming they have troops of course)
Gotta have the authentic mexican experience of having the country being burnt down once your former benevolent overlord realises you want independence for real
