I have spent the last couple of days playing VV and i noticed sth strange. In 2-3 occasions an AI nation (Seleucid Empire on the last occasion) signed a peace treaty with another AI nation (Aetolian league) with the following terms:

Aetolian league ceded two provinces to the Seleucids, plus they accepted to pay tribute.

The weird thing is that those 2 provinces were all they had. So the Aetolian league ceased to exist, and of course the Seleucid empire didn't get any tribute from them.

So this is a case of "unofficial" annexation of a two-province minor. I never had this happening before upgrading to VV.

I didn't post this in the "bugs" subforum, because it is a NICE bug ;). Annexing 2-province minors should be possible for both human and Ai controlled nations.

BtW, gread expansion!

The same happened in my game as Rome. I saw the macedonian AI take over a two province Aetolian League in just one war.
At that moment i thought it had something to do with a mission they could have had, because i had a strange thing happening to me in that game too. As Rome I had the mission to take Syracuse. I dow'ed Epirus and attacked Syracuse. The latter became part of Rome without negotiations. Is that normal or could that have been a bug?
I didn't try to take Epirus itself after that, because i was busy fighting Carthage. So i don't know if it's possible to annex a two province minor this way.

Could Epirus have suffered a civil war while you controled Syracuse? Any occupied provinces are lost when a civil war ends, which can be a huge pain. No idea what happened in the OP's case though.

I've also noticed that the AI can also take a capital province as well. Forcing the civilization to move it's capital.

I know it can happen with no civil war - I had the Aetolian League get annexed as a two-provincer in my current game and I was their ally at that time and had been since almost the beginig of the game - I knew they lost both their provinces, but was to busy on another front to help them then poof, they were gone.

I've also seen the AI take capitals several times - Generally I like this, since it means I can now take the capital from their new owners. :D

Regarding civil wars, I was reffering to Zorzogoth receiving Syracuse without a peace treaty (2nd post), not about taking capitals or annexing 2 province minors.

I did recently take the province of Cartharge from Carthage while playing as Rome. For some reason their capital moved to one of their Iberian provinces during our war so I was able to take Carthage in the peace treaty. They had a civil war while I was fighting them, but I'm not really sure what exactly happened, maybe your capital moves if it's occupied by someone else when a civil war ends? Or maybe the rebels won and their capital became the new capital?

With capitals, if they're unconnected to the rest of the provinces of their empire can't you take them like you can in EU3:IN? I thought you could.

Me.

not really. In my game, Egypt's capital is in Phoenicia and separated from Egypt, whenever I occupy it they never move.

But I notice that when Rome conquered Carthage's capital, Chartage moved it in a lot of new places.

Well that's not quite the same. In EU:IN you can absorb an AI's capital if it is seperated from the rest of its provinces if you control enough of them. You can either take their capital (which will move it) or take other provinces, but not both. I thought you could do that in Rome... then again I haven't tried.
