Hello everybody!

After a bit of a break, the ACAs are back. For the next month, you, the readers of AARland, will be able to celebrate all of your favourite AARs and authors.

Voting will begin right away and end in roughly a month's time. (I'll aim to close things on Wednesday, 3rd August but will be out of the country then, so things might end up being a little fluid.) As ever, people should vote for their favourite four AARs in each of the following games:

Europa Universalis IV
Crusader Kings II
Victoria II
Hearts of Iron IV
Stellaris

and should occur in this thread. You're by no means required to vote for four AARs in every category, but you have the option. In addition, you may vote for four AARs in the ‘Other’ category: ie, those not covered by separate categories.) All AARs updated between January 1st 2016 and June 30th 2016 (inclusive) are eligible for consideration.

Good thing this covers the first and second quarter of the year because it seems I've been mostly neglecting new AARs the last few months. Guess I can show my support for my old favourites that ended earlier in the year. :D

Thank you everybody for continuing to support the ACAs. It means a lot to all authors nominated, I know. Especially as these community endeavours dwindle somewhat, it's heartening to see that there is still a core of people committed to the institutions that helped to make AARland what it is today.

Without further ado: the results!

In chronological order, starting with Crusader Kings II we saw a very healthy 19 AARs nominated. Votes were spread wide and thin, meaning that to claim joint-first place one only needed two votes. The AARs to do so were:

All other nominees can therefore consider themselves joint-runners up!


Next up, Europa Universalis IV! Votes were less diffuse here, with our four winners receiving three each. We also had a solitary runner-up, who received two votes, and seven AARs tied for third place. In joint-first, we had:

Our runner-up was The Decline and Fall of Roman Civilisation, by @volksmarschall . All others nominated can take home a nice third-place trophy!


Victoria II, now! Bucking the four-way trend with two AARs tied for first-placed, each the third part of a megacampaign and each with four votes, this category was dominated by big-hitters. We had one runner-up, again, and seven tied for third-place, again. The winners were:

Our runner-up was El Imperio Muerto, by @naxhi24 et al. All other nominees take home a bronze medal!


Although not blessed with a surfeit of votes this time around, Hearts of Iron IV still managed to give us two AARs tied for the top spot, each with two votes. (The four other nominated AARs therefore may all consider themselves runners-up!) Our winners were:

In the final game-specific category, we have a number of firsts. Straight away, it's Stellaris's first outing at the ACAs (which means all winners are inaugural) – but we also have an undisputed gold medalist! Congratulations, @TheBeautifulVoid, whose One-Hundred and Forty-Four takes the top prize!

Incredibly, we also have an undisputed runner-up: The Light-Speed Lombards, by @RedTemplar!

Even more incredibly, we have eight third-placers. These are:

Finally, keeping the Other category in business, @Avindian gets to take home another medal for his excellent Hearts of Iron 3 AAR, A History of World War II, by those who fought it.
