Snugglie's interview of phargle was very good, and Murmurandus' rumblings made me laugh, so it can't be that bad! ;) Of course all the other contributions were good as well, thanks to everyone for writing them!

Great, thank you alot for the new AARlander.
This in-forum magazine is a great idea, it helps to reflect on computergames as a cultural form I especially liked the interview with the Knytling saga writer, and the very informative article by trekaddict about the bombers.

Well done, AARlander team.

cover: Hehe, new edition to the CC, comagoosies' comments. The cover this time does seem familiar in the way your avatar looks. I am not too familiar with anime, honestly I have never watched a show in my life, but what the cover is…is…interesting, I have no clue what it is like to watch one of those. The guy kind of reminds me of Hitler.

canonized and english patriot: Wow a co-article written by two people we don't normally see write! Was the forum a fury? Yes, and a spamming ground, and not even I could stay immune. Couple of nice interviews, it seems you have covered all bases in a relatively short amount of questions. Mods, AARland, General,...Not MP?, I am kidding. Canonized did all the work while EP did the opening and closing, is this some fair deal? I think canonized's name should be in bold. Enough silliness, every gamer that knows of paradox is awaiting HOI3 with glee, they just hope it won't turn up like a flop, kind of like Rome, though this doesn't say that Rome AARs are bad, mind you. Will HOI3 be good for AARland? Definitely, no doubt about it, I just hope that more people will then discover Rome and either comment on an AAR or write one.

EUROO7: Me too, I wished for Vicky 2. For reasons inspired by AARs that I have read and what enjoyment the author's seem to be getting out of them, but also because I know that when I buy Vicky paradox will be cruel and announce Vicky II. Honestly, learning curves don't affect me, if I want to play a game, then I will try my best to master it, nothing will bring me down! Grr...CKII, I don't get a good vibe looking at its forum or its AARs, I don't know, but I am glad it isn't CKII, or I wouldn't have bought it, sorry paradox. So I guess paradox compromised with me secretly. They didn't make Vicky II and they didn't make CK II, but let's hope HOI3 is the real deal.

comagoosie: Stunning and beautiful article, simply the best :D

Snugglie: Hmm...I didn't visit the CK AAR forum too much but I did see phargle's institution, a pity that it had to come to an end. Phargle is more decorated that canonized, what a shocker, I had no idea. We should have a medal count for every major AAR, to see how they rank up, because I had no idea phargle had more, and because I love statistics! Good interview, very in depth. Phargle has another idea?! Oh no, everyone watch out!

Estonianzulu: You lucked out, I forgot to save my notepad file (which is how I do these comments) and I closed the file erasing just yours (I remembered to save it earlier), as consequence, I fear yours might not be as long as it was. No matter, it is a comment. Anyways, in short, I remember what I was getting at was that how I never read any of the books that you mentioned and the first couple AARs, like Into the West, but coz1. Yet Fire warms the Northern Heart, I am familiar with, yet I have never commented on it, I can see what you mean when you say that it is hip and popular, but it will sometimes lag, nevertheless it will leave it mark on AARland, most likely forever. In addition, I do believe I was a bit stunned when you mentioned timelines fading away, I don't think I can yet comprehend that, and probably neither can canonized, but possibly you speak the truth, and we all must heed it. There is a point where readers can join in and where it is just too much, even with chapter summaries. I suppose each and every AAR has its hay day and then it putters and then it picks up again, a cycle that is broken by too many variables to be named. I guess the only thing that I can say is "only time will tell"

Murmurandus: Hehe, that canonized figure sure does demand a lot doesn't he, hehe. Feist? Never heard of it, and how can he milk it more than canonized? Where do people get these cows?! 289K is a lot, you have got to be kidding yourself, I think if you combined all of my updates for Rome you might get half that! Don't get down on yourself, share the novel with us, we are the best pre-audience an author can ask for. Hmm...I don't see my name anywhere in your post... Never mind, we love you Murmy, and support you!

spl: You again! Kidding, you and me are good friends, err... I hope so! I suppose this is here to stay! Good, great, I might have need of this someday. Two character writers of the week but only two writers of the week!? Happy birthday you three.

trekaddict: How enlightening! I never knew the germans had in minds a bomber that could go from france to the US. I can't imagine the impact it could have, if a bomber let his bombs go on New York City. The results would have been catastrophic, and in the worst case scenario, from my perspective would be the US withdrawing from the war to save its east coast cities. I wonder how the world would have turned out then! Though this is probably unlikely, your article was still a fascination. Those germans did have some pretty weird designs. Btw, what is the name of your book, and does it come in english?

Masked Pickle: The assassination of the Alexander Obrenović was not the only things that caused WW1. If I remember correctly, there were 3 crises and 3 wars that led up to WW1, so if the mod were to be made historically as possible, one would have to conisder the 6 things. Anyways, very interesting how the modder interpreted what would happen if WWI didn't happen. Seems right to me. This mods looks very interesting. I can't wait for the AI to be enhanced and version 1.0 comes out.

EEmperor: I have read a few HOI2 AARs, and I have read even fewer 1914 AARs (in fact none). It does look like a good AAR, though, I should give it a read.

Capibara: Wow it is amazing how much you know about your country and its regions. I couldn't tell you what Michigan is famous for, and I live in it! You on the other hand, know every region and can state what it is famous for. Amazing! By the next few AARlander I will know more about Mexico than America :D

Degeme: Good to see you contribute, and by the sounds of it, I will be seeing more of you. Nice info on Moscow, from a tourist that has been there. Whistling at girls? That must have been embarrasing, but surely all of them couldn't have been! Unless there is something you are not telling us. ;)

more to come...

Feist is a fantasy writer who only sold a couple of million books... some people actually know him... ;) :p

It's 289K in Dutch so nobody wouldn't care... ;)

I love you too, comagoosie... :D

Canonized has a LONG way to go to reach Jordan-esque proportions to milking a project....:) Good articles this month, as usual. Surprised me a bit that I was mentioned a couple of different times...But I suppose my old heart can survive the shock....:)

One does, when one has the time.

Nice issue, and nice article Estonianzulu. Though The Papacy began as an AAR influenced by Ariel's classic An English AAR (GC 1.08). Something a little different..?, it quickly evolved into, well--something a little different. The AAR eventually featured a lot of firsts in AARland, including the birth of the Free Company series of AARs.

As for longevity, nothing lasts forever. If classics such as Ariel's aforementioned AAR, Secret Master's The Noble Lives: A Chronicle of the Kingdom of Castile, MrT's l'éminence grise and, dare I say, my own AAR: Austria and The War of the Spanish Succession: 1700 - 1708 fade from memory (and that's not counting the great works by The Yogi, Mettermck, Peter Ebbeson, etc) then nothing can be considered eternal.

Thanks. Ariel's AAR was even old in my time :D I came around at the end of The Papacy, so I did catch some of it. See, I even managed to forget l'éminence grise which was one of my favorite AAR's, just to further my point.

I loved that one, and its the reason I did Footsteps, but its hard to say that one had on a forum wide scale the type of impact that say, Warspite did, or Phargle's is.

Time for some feedback ! I'd encourage all the authors who've written to also give feedback to those authors who wrote with you this month as well ! The joy you feel from feedback should be spread around also :D so please do so !

First I'd like to extend a very warm thank you to English Patriot who did so many things for us this month . He formatted all the articles and the meta page as well as helped me do Article I for the AARlander (great title by the way , old bean XD) . You see , we were originally going to have two HOI2 experts comment on the HOI3 release but we got a hold of them a bit too late so we had to do the article ourselves and we decided to just get the opinions of a few people who we knew in order to make up for our own lack of personal experience with the game itself. He also did a fine job with the first article helping to formulate the opening and what not XD thank you again sir , this couldn't have been done without you !

EUROO7: i was very much privileged to have you on the team this month and to have you go around and asking the dissenting opinion . It really did help to make this edition very fair and balanced and get the beat of the population and what not . Many of us were indeed hoping for more sequels of some of the more non-WW2 games (haha) although we all have a healthy love for HOI as well , I think . Great job and very impressive for journalistic work on our publication :D

comagoosie: As usual you don't fail to dish out quality work :D I'm very glad we're going zulu some air time about his project since it's definitely one of the AARlander's goals to keep track of any new initiatives going on in our little corner for the Paradox forums . I think you've done excellently in bringing forward the details of the plan while maintaining a very friendly outlook on the whole thing ! Good job :D

Snugglie: combining phargle's unique wit and your maturing journalistic expertise , I was very impressed with this article as well . I think the subtle flirtation of comedy and seriousness made this article heavy in its impact and definitely an enjoyable interview to read . We will all miss the Knytlings and I am so glad you offered to do this for us this month !

Estonianzulu: Once again , our AARlander historian proves his erudition in this wonderful restrospective . We all appreciate your insight especially for someone who's been here as long as you have , zulu , and I have to say that you continue to write with an even handed stroke . Excellent work .

Murmy: You crazy old fool haha . Well I'm glad you wrote for us :D I was actually quite elated when you said you would do this with us so thank you again :D . Your perspective is unique as a reader and your sense of humour is one that only a Belgian could have so it was a very big treat to hProxy-Connection: keep-alive

e you in the publication and I really do hope that you stay on for future projects as well !

spl: Where would we be without our weekly awards ? And where would we be without your faithful reporting on it ? Thanks again for doing this for us , spl and it's really a service that is necessary considering the busy life of the AARland metaforum and how some memories get lost in the mists of time !

trekaddict: As to be expected from a WW2 enthusiast , trekaddict I have to thank you again for your participation and for your beautiful images ! Your expertise in this area was not only naunced but enlightening and entertaining . I am sure for the most staunch enthusiasts they will not only find joy but also perhaps contention with your research XD Either way it was very good !

Masked Pickle: continuing with the tradition of the AARlander to involve new people as well as to showcase mods , I was very happy that you decided to join up with us this month , Mr. Pickle XD I do hope to speak with you more in the future and to encourage and cultivate you as you grow and mature in our team :D . I do believe you will be an excellent contribution to our staff ! Welcome once again !

ElidioEmperor: Yes , you are correct , you are now 'officially' a writer for the AARlander and i hope it stays that way :D Your article rang true with your ecclectic personality while at the same time performing a service that is at the very root of the AARlander's lifeblood: an AAR review . So thank you for this , EE , and I do hope that you will consider to stay on us with us for many more months :D

Capibara: The mystical and beautiful land of Mexico seems to unfold piece by piece in your article . Your love for your country as well as the scenery unfolds in the reader's psyche just as you intended it , I think . Thank you again for your hard work on this and I am more and more appreciative of our neighboring land to the south :D

Degeme: Your second article sir ! And again taking us to far away lands . Your cosmopolitan stories are a wonderful way of having a dessert at the end of our publication . So thank you again for being part of the time and I do hope that you will continue to shower us with the exotic places you've been to and your unique perspective for it :D .

Maybe one should edit the character writer of the week since TheEnglightened took the mantle before august ended. :)
You've lost me..
Maybe I'm just going crazy though, care to provide me a link to the post with TheEnglightened getting it? I guess it's late now...but I want to know if he got the award after I sent it to cannonized or if I missed him completely...
