We can mod in completely new diplomatic actions? Wow, that sounds pretty sweet.

Dynamic cultures and the ability of different countries to get others' historical events sounds pretty awesome too.

hmm a succession mess should be possible for anyone.. but the netherlands breaking away, that kind of demands a cultural region held by someone else, like finland in the hands of sweden.... i doubt sweden can manage 80 years of rebellion nearly as well as did the spanish ;)

..or scotland, england had better not go north too soon :D

New diplomatics? missed that one ;)

Great reading and a lot sounds swell of a fun, loved that bilateral alliances finally are in the game! :D

The most dangerous (As long as they get the lack of historical events/kings working) is:

"The biggest change we have made is to reduce the learning curve with EU3, so that as a new player you are not overwhelmed with detail."

I hope they talk about interface and not anything close to the hell they made with MOO3 and B&W2?

Something I hadn't thought about with the new culture system (maybe it wasn't indicated before), was the changing of culture based on the provinces you own. I wonder if the tech advancement rate is influenced by that. For instance, grab more european provinces than your asian base & up you go. But then if, instead of Denmark gaining German provinces & losing Danish ones, you have France gaining Chinese ones & losing French ones, would you then (a) become a Chinese-cultured nation? Maybe it's based on continguous province ownership..

I think that could be nicely solved by CK style technology system. It doesn't seem it's in, which is a pity, as CK tech system was brilliant.

I hope a vassal diplomacy works in similar way as satellites in Vicky(can only declare war on overlord or someone at war with overlord). If it does, then the bilateral alliance thing will rock.

I like it that you can achieve dominance by prestige and diplomacy and not just by economy and military. I'm curious how it works out.

The dynamic culture system sounds exciting, but I'm a bit worried. As I understand, the EU2 culture system was designed to hinder expansion by giving a tax penalty and higher rebellion chances. But now you can expand into the Germans states or France with a different state culture and gain the majority culture. Wouldn't that be a bit unbalancing?

I just want to say two things:

looks like modding the map will be the next development diary, and

drinking a pint of beer is not easy; I always want that second pint, too! :p

So, Johan says that, to attract new players, the game has been simplified. And, of course, he is sure to mention that the game is as deep and immersive as ever....

I guess we'll see when it comes out. I've never really understood this buyout to a simpler game to "draw" newbies. EU2 wasn't hard. And if EU3 is simpler, it might not be a game I like to play over and over and over and over.
