Looks swell, but I hope rivers are on the map as they were in HOI.

I always play in the diplomatic mode (so I know who is where on the map) and having to switch to terrain mode everytime I need to find a river would be incredibly annoying

Maybe we can get an official word on rivers from the devs? :D

or do what i attack any place with anything

The map is always one of the very first things to be "fixed", so what you see is with 99% certainty what you'll get. If you want to be sure, check out the first screenshot. No Oder, no Vistula, you get the picture, no rivers in political mode just like in Viccy... :( :( :(

You guys play in political mode? I only switch to political mode when I want to see how well a certain country's doing, not to actually game in.

I usually game in weather mode.

Well, I actually usually play in weather mode too, but rivers will still be much harder to spot if they aren't separate from the other provinces, and I can hardly understand why making them harder to spot is a good thing??

Furthermore, my guess is that they have also adapted the "fixed terrain" look of Viccy and CK, meaning that changing the actual terrain of a province will not change the way it looks in-game, which would modding harder. :(

Well after a few patches they got the province terrain correct and will probably be used in HoI 2.

Actually I still don't agree with parts of it, but I'm in a minority I suppose.

If there's electricity, it would be very interesting to have some massive hydroelectric dam projects :)

Imperialism had electricy later in the game (set in the 19th century). It freed up labor to do other things with - mainly army. By the end of the game, if you controlled the oil - to make fuel- to make electricity, you had no manpower problems whatsoever.

I don't think it will be quite the same in HOI2 though, but it will be interesting to find out what it's about. And what was wrong with coal? =T That's puzzling - you can't exactly mine electricity in the Rhur.

Loved that - though I always educated to expert level, so I was left with a load of unemployable poindexters. God, what a fantastic game that was.

But I have a feeling it's not electricity.

But coal was still a very important resource, not just for electricty, during the WWII. It should not be taken out. Then it would be more logical to take out rubber.
But anyway I think that coal is in there some way, as I think the things next to Jinan in the unit window is the resources in that province and the second thingy there looks like it is representing coal.
But what is the thing in front of Jinan?
If it is confirmed that diplomatic points won't be shown in the main window, then I have no clue about the thing on the right.
Why should they put transport capacity in the main window?

Lightning isn't necessarily equal to electricity.

I'm putting my bets on "power" as resource.

This quite nicely solves the "But country X didn't have coal in that region!" complaint, and makes it easier to balance scenarios.
