I just hope that every province does NOT have a port, like it was in Viccy. Few provinces would have ports large enough to handle military fleets or even military sized amounts of supplies. In Viccy some Sibirian province could have a port as large as Plymouth... :(

The problem isn't that there are too many ports, it's that every port is the same. IRL, some ports could base entire fleets, while others could only hold a small handful of ships.

Some sort of stacking limits on ports would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath on that one...

Perhaps infantry can only be divisions, so there's no point in putting XX under all of them since they're all the same, but other unit types that were commonly fielded in smaller unit sizes can be made as a regiment or brigade.

As for my guesses on the new resource symbols - is it possible that the gold coins thingie on the right doesn't reflect cash but precious metals (such as tungsten, bauxite, etc.)?

And could the resource on the left be fuel, maybe - as in refined oil?

Maybe I'm just dazed and confused ...

Regarding the year under the infantry, that's surely intended to model units that are fighting with outdated / state-of-the-art weaponry. That would force the player to expend additional resources to equip infantry with the latest weapons. Thus, the entire Red Army won't be magically equipped with Submachine Guns once the appropriate tech is researched. Huzzah.

Anyone else notice the "Prioritized" checkbox? Looks like we'll be able to funnel supplies and oil directly to units involved in key offensives, instead having all units suffer equally from a short supply situation. Sweeeeeet.

Curious that the Stockholm illuminati would choose to replace coal with power, instead of merely adding power. One wonders where synthetic oil will come from in HoI2. And does anyone else think that the power symbol looks like the Samus Aran symbol from Metroid? :D

Nice choice of font for the province names on the map, and that tank sprite looks awesome. I just wish I could click on that supply route button to see how that looks. :p

I do not know. The description for the army that contains the cavalry says '5 divisions'

Neither am I, so since limiting the number of ports to those large enough to be significant would be better then nothing I'm rooting for that. ;)

Mmmh... looking at the unit stats, I see that Cavalry is still very discriminated. :(

Historically a soviet Guards Cavalry Division was not so behind a standard Guadrs Infantry Division. (Of course, I know the screenshot is about japanese units, but...)

I am not that crazy about the screenshot.
I don't like the Vic style showing of the stats. I will certainly not hope that this is the only stats, the units will have. I luved the HOI way and has always hated the Vic style. Please please change this.

The power thing looks cool, but regarding what the second ressource is, I am clueless. Could be money though.

And how can the TC become overburdened ?? Is Japan using more transports than they have :confused:

But still, you can release all the screenshots you want to, but I will still buy the game :rofl:

Agreed. That's why I hope they'll keep the old HoI system (only major ports are represented) rather then adopt the new Viccy system (every little hellhole has a port just as large and efficent as the largest metropolis :wacko )...
Some system with different port sizes etc would of course be the best, but I'm very doubtful that something like that will be included. :(


Edit: Other then that though, the screenshot is beautiful everything looks great I can't wait etc. You know the drill :D

I dont think the last new resource is money. Zoom in and have a look, the large object is definitely not a money bill.
The other new resource looks like an electricity icon, imo.

Does the text really say 'TC', was it ever positively confirmed that it was 'transport capacity'? Looks like something else.

What about the numbers next to 'Jinan'? Could it refer to supply requirement?


I have never waited more anxiously for any game in my life :) :D

Ok guys if we where troops in HOI we have a strength of 100 but org of 0 so
i spent the last 1/2 hour to get a load of info and type it up
