I experience the same^^ two games on going both past 1880 Russia and Britain have smashed China in both. Quite shocked at how easy such a huge nation with the manpower it has can crumble so easily.
Same. I think China seem to have some trouble raising troops despite all its manpower. In my last game as Netherlands I got into a war with Korea, Japan and China over Fukuoka, so I landed an army in Pusan. Initially the Chinese put up quite a tough fight, constantly throwing 30-60k stacks at me. But by the time I pushed through to Beijing there was basically no defenders left.
Somehow China with most of its population and territories intact never managed to scrap together a noticeable army over the next 10 years that I spent occupying provinces.
The same problem we had in HoI3 and that never really went away largely because they've not upgraded their engine to take advantage of more computer cores. As it stands right now, their Clausewitz engine is only capable of utilizing one core. That is the core of the problem. Figuratively speaking, to eliminate a problem, do you cut the snake from the tail until you get to the head or start with the head?My lame attempt to try and look wise.
At this stage I don't think it's really feasible to change the game engine.
