Admin cap techs. I always try to have all the civics or techs, but its always not enough and I end up with modifiers like +100% leader cost. Honestly, for me admin cap is too low rn
I swear they are all engineering techs. Robots, starholds, titans, mega-engineering and so on.
Gateway construction, usually. My lategame strategies revolve heavily around them, and even early game I find myself picking gateway or gateway-adjacent systems for my shipyards.
It's the single most useful tech on board for me.
Society is another one occasionally, for a lot of building upgrades and just generally getting more advanced buildings, etc.
