Now I am usually not one to pre-order games, in fact, the last time I pre-ordered a game was about 8 years ago. I always felt it more logical to wait until release, let the devs iron out the inevitable bugs, and read some reviews first before I purchase.

However, I am truly stoked to hear that CO and Paradox are bringing us a City Builder, the dev diaries look great, and this time, it looks like we are getting a City Builder that focuses solely on... you guessed it, CITY BUILDING!. I see no buzz words being splattered everywhere like "MMO", "Social mayors", "Online social that" or "Online social this". It appears we are getting a no-nonsense city builder, and that is all I have wanted since SimCity 4: Rush Hour. To put the icen on the cake, it's also open to the modding community.

It may possibly have it's bugs at release, but as a show of my support, I am off to pre-order this game.. Thanks CO and Paradox!

There are a lot of good things, however, not "everything" looks great.. no tunnels, 4x4 zones, the skyscrapers' design by and large is lacking.. The artistic style appears to be in the future... So there are a few things that are not quite ticking all the boxes quite yet. Can modders fix all these things? Who knows, but that's not the point really.

No, but like I said it looks like theres enough right for it not to go wrong. Its not going to be perfect. But what Ive seen looks great enough that what it may or may not be lacking will not impact too much the overall experience.

And building skins will probably be coming out of our eye balls with mods.

If you are expecting perfection you might as well get your disappointed t shirt out now.

I'm not a fan of the art style, but the simulation and everything else Ive seen looks like it more than makes up for that.

Now I just started with this genre ..played very few hours of Sim City 4. And still I pre ordered this game because I followed this game from December and I like the way the developer is open to thoughts and ideas. I also liked that they discussed the important features in details and discussed them with community. Such a thorough process helps us to decide that the game will be good or not. Lastly , I guess it's individual prerogative to decide for pre order or not.

The last game I preordered was SC2013 a while back... since that day I sworn that I will never pre-order anything and never buy anything from EA. I kept half of my oath (thank you C:S for ruining the other half).

I preordered because CO is a pretty small team and you can say that they really care about the community. They deserve some apreciation.

After the whole SimCity debacle I said that I would never pre-order again.

I just pre-ordered. The increase in minimum specs gave me confidence that they were really listening to the community.

I like how you all are thinking. No, this game is NOT going to be perfect, especially on release day. There will be bugs to be resolved and there will be features that are missing or disappointing or not working correctly. But, and this is a big one, I think the game will still be great from the start, and I agree fully that CO listens to their community and deserves appreciation for what they have done. I want them to keep working on C:SL for the next several years and make it even better, and so I too pre-ordered even though I have said I never would.

I never pre order games because they don't run out of copies like they used to in the olden days :)

secondly, very few pc games are ever a finished product when they come out. I rather wait 6 months to a year for patches and major updates.

You can wait 6 months to play Skylines? Dang, you have way more self control than I do. I want it like yesterday!

I find it amazing how many people have been turned off of pre-ordering because of SimCity 2013. And it is like a little ray of sunshine every time I see someone say that they made an "exemption" to their pre-order rule just for Cities: Skylines =)

We're working very hard to make sure that we are in the "very few" category, that delivers on our promises and gives you what you ordered.
