In spite of the recent, numerous lookalike threads that have popped up over the past two days protesting the Ottoman nerfs – a fair amount of them even before the DLC was released, and all of them from a very vocal minority – I think I can speak for the majority of the fans and users on the forums that Paradox finally addressing the elephant in the room and nerfing the Ottos (amongst others) was a very welcome change. They're still powerful and capable of conquering their immediate neighbors (as they should), but the almost Calvinistic determinism that used to drive that is now gone; much like France, Castile, Austria, Sweden, et cetera, there’s now an actual margin of error on their part. They move a bit more slowly than they used to at start (as they should), and as a result the region now feels like it can have actual variation in outcome – and for that matter, you actually have to pay attention when you play as the Ottos now.

In short, thank you for continuing to improve upon and balance the game.

I too welcome the change. Every nation should have the ability to fail without player intervention. Up until this time there were two: Ottomans and Ming. Ottomans have been addressed and now the possibility of a Mamluk superpower in the region adds more variety and more strategic depth to playing as the Ottomans, actually requiring you to stay awake in order to succeed when you play as the Turks. Ottomans may actually have some enjoyment to them now instead of feeling like you’ve won the moment you press “Start Game”.

Now for the final invincible juggernaut: Ming.

The problem with ming is the rock solid status of Tributaries :

1) even when ming gets destroyed in a war (by the player, the AI can't anymore), tributaries are still happily remaining under the rule of ming, even after it lost its armies and was humiliated in a war by someone else

2) you just destroyed all ming and carpet sieged them, they have massive debt, war exhaustion, and their manpower is depleted. you declare war on one of their tributaries. ming joins the war... ok...

3) mingplosion needs to have a big (like 25-30% ) chance to happen every game

About Ming: most of Ming's power seems to come (in my opinion) because of the removal of their 50% autonomy cap. I still don't understand why Paradox decided to remove that cap. Ming was a big power, but it didn't had an absurd amount of money or manpower due to this autonomy cap. I think bringing back this would help quite a bit in taming the monster that Ming has become.
