... just wanted to say thanks for this, the first game I truly played insanely long and often and which by the way gave me quite an edge in history class. I am right now playing EU4 and I still think buying EU 1 was one of my best (and on the other hand worst, because all of the time I played ;P ) investments I ever made in a game.

So Paradox, thank you very much.

As someone who purchased EU1 back in...oh, 2001 or so, I can't help but echo this sentiment. I still remember trying to start the game for the first time, over at my grandmother's house, all those years ago...

Because EU1 was the first EU game I played, I have to say after all these years and many, many hours playing EU2 and 3, my most enjoyable moments were playing the original game. I remember a specific game (one of my very 1st games) playing as Russia and I somehow managed to get a colony in Indo China somewhere. I remember the thrill of exploration, uncovering that exotic trade item, discovering new nations. Even though i know where everything is in the real world uncovering the terra incognita provinces was new and exciting.
I remember countless action packed nail biting wars with the Ottomans, Sweden, Poland and Teutonic Order. Boy those were some tense conflicts that I've never quite had since in any other EU game.
