After all those seemingly endless months of waiting Cornflakes arrived!

So, I got right into a new game as Germany 1936 - Playing as "Regular," though I have to admit that I used the slider for a minimal Strengthen Germany [because I'm a pretty lousy player]. Have to admit, I was initially disappointed. Tried to use all the new features and found myself lost & bewildered. The lack of factories at the get-go was a shocker. I love to really build up my air force as early as possible and this was a major impediment. But then I recalled reading in a recent Dev Diary that Germany would be weakened at the start but all would be well over time [or words to that effect].

So, I started over and played as normally as I could deciding to utilize new features only after they became apparent. Played for a couple of years. Got a bit of a grasp and then decided to start anew again. I played until early 1940 after taking Poland - in a 2 month long slug-fest - and Latvia. To my surprise, when I turned my attention to the West, I found that Italy had already taken France! Never saw that happen before. Going to start again, just for the fun of it.

I LOVE it!

I don't worry much about any bugs or other anomalies. I'm not a "under-the-hood" guy, preferring just to play and enjoy and have confidence that the developers will strive to make it the best product that they can. Love the new German Focus Tree and related industrial choices and improvements; drag & drop on the Production & Construction screens is fantastic; radar graphics are much better; Command Chain is fun [still trying to manage it]; Decisions has promise [I notice that as the game progresses, the choices become more interesting, i.e. Prospect for Resources]; just overall great improvements to the game. I guess I'll have to begin utilizing Rudolph Hess again as a minister because with the Decision feature Political Power becomes a bit more scarce.

Three things that I am not sure are working properly or that I am just dense:

-- MEFO Bills Due -- what exactly does it do? I canceled it in my first play-through. Seemed to hinder my resources & progress, so I kept paying those in the next 2 tries and things seemed better. Still, I am not clear on its purpose.

-- Historical Division names are not happening except for my SS divisions [I changed Motorized to SS & updated; don't see a similar option with the other military types]. At some point, ONE Infantry division was formed with a historical name. Same with Mountain divisions and I think cavalry.

-- Some generals are able to handle 72 divisions without penalty, while the rest handle the usual 24 only - this is NOT considering Field Marshalls.

Anyway, really enjoying the "new" game and trying to learn to adapt to everything.

THANKS!

If you look into "Construction" and "Consumer Goods" you see that mefo bills give you 20 % reduction. I dont really understand the use of fixed numer and percentages, but the buttom line is that mefo bills give a huge bonus in construction (e.g.new civilian factories, military factoris etc).

-- MEFO Bills Due -- what exactly does it do? I canceled it in my first play-through. Seemed to hinder my resources & progress, so I kept paying those in the next 2 tries and things seemed better. Still, I am not clear on its purpose.

Mefo bills are bills issued by the government to pay for rearmament and about anything it needs through a private empty-shell company with a Paid up capital of 1 million marks called Metallurgische Forschungsgesellschaft. The MEFO-bills were state guaranteed, they could circulate in the economy and could be discounted by their holders at the Reichsbank in exchange for cash. This was done to rapidly kickstart the economy after the Great Depression, as for germany money was not available, since savings were inexistent and production was so restricted that savings would not accumulate . Neither could money be printed, since lending to the government would have put the Reichsbank at risk of losing control of monetary policy.

In game, while these are issued, you get -20% consumer goods, but it is increasingly expensive to keep it up. If you have to pay them back to the holders, you get +20% (or whatever percent it is) for a few months.
