Hi
I don't really play HoI, but being fascinated about WW1 I thought I would peak at this mod... and I have a little comment: Denmark's southernmost province belonged to Germany from the war of 1864 and until after WW1, but I can see from the screenies in the AAR that you have given it to Denmark.

I was referring to Austria-Hungary, always wishing to expand to hold itself together, and Serbia, who wished to see all Slavs under their banner.

Mind you, the 'powerful neighbours' I might have referred to may well have been Albania and the Adriatic Sea :D

Should the infrastructure of Russia's farwestern most provinces be depreciated to a small extent to reflect the fact that they had a shoddy railway network, and thus found mobilising their military districts to be a major task?

The Russian rail network quite specifically did not meet up with the German one for military reasons. The western railways had been considereably improved prior to the war, with French money of course, so shouldn't be too bad I suppose.

We might want to consider having lines of good railnetworks (infrastrucutre). These lines would go from the centers of industry to each other. They would have a infrastructre of say 40-50, with 50 being the province holding with the industrial production center. Lesser lines (34 infra.) would go to important resource centers, i.e. Baku, while the rest of the country would have less than 34 (poor roads, little to no rail, etc.).

I think that would be quite a valid thing to do, especially when one considers that in the standard HOI, the most advanced provinces have as high as 80 for their infrastructure.

Of course the good infrastructure (40), must be stretched to include the Trans-Siberian railroad which will not have industrial centers along all of its length.

This may kill off a few of those provinces that have only 1 or 2 IC's, so we may get a double whammy of limiting movements and killing off Russia's high number IC's. Which while I would like to let Russia have a few places with 1 IC, for some small growth, I do want to avoid the massive IC construction that the AI does, and avoid the IC powerhouse that the Soviet Union becomes in vanilla HOI, just through upgrading for three or four years.

I Couldn't agree more. The wholesale uniform growth of the Soviet Union always seemed odd to me. Dozens of small factories sprouting up across siberia makes no sense whatsoever. It is something I would be keen to avoid if we can.

Countries to be added to the revolt file.

Poland's Galician territories need to be included into the revolt file, so that it can gain its independence when Austria-Hungary breaks apart, should it not have done with either the fall of Tsarist Russia or Germany. The territories are: 635 724 725 :)

How can a murder of one man cause a sloter of a milion?
How can a country fight a war for the fear of its allies rather then its enemies?
Nobody knew what they were fighting for, nobody really wanted this war,but it was unstopable...The First World War.

Ahh cable TV - good stuff.

Well I'm sure the programme is most informative, and I would certainly devote an hour of my time to watching it...if I knew what network it was on. Is it the Serbian Discovery channel or the American one? A quick glance at my television schedule reveals that 'Forensic Detectives' is on the Discovery Channel here in Britain at 11pm, no doubt following the escopades of some gruff, mustachioed American policeman in a trenchcoat trying to find out who bludgeoned so-and-so to death with a spoon...

On the bright side, the equally delightful programme 'Trauma' follows that up at midnight. ;)

Sounds like the series based on the Hew Strachan books - they were screened here over the past few weeks on Channel 4 on Saturday night, and I could only watch each episode alternately, because on times I wouldn't get home from work on time :(

I'm reading the book accompanying the TV series - so that's a minor compensation. :)

How should we handle the fighting that went along between Russia and the Ottoman Empire on Persian soil? Give Russia and Turkey military access to Persia's territory, or something else?

Leave it to them. If we put Persia as one of the countries that both Russia and Turkey want to influence, then they might gain military access, and then they might just clash...

It would seem that the most recent text file on Johan's download had the original ideologies that we agreed to, whereas the one that Stephen keeps hold of, as I understand, is the one with the more up to date details in that respect. Therefore, I think that the tech names and descriptions from Johan's most recent text file should be amalgamated into the more up to date one.

These starting cabinets should be added to the country files:

Therefore, I think that the tech names and descriptions from Johan's most recent text file should be amalgamated into the more up to date one.

I did a Compare Versions thingie between Johan's file and mine, and there were a huge number of changes in his - for example, he's entered all the event descriptions. So I think it's better to use his, and I'll change the ideology descriptions to match the old one.

Presumably this means that Johan has also changed all the event files to put in the description codes?
