text.csv file problem

After attempting to find the "technical support forum" listed on paradiseplaza.com, I was redirected to the general forums... So I'm wondering if anyone can help me here with this issue.

After trying to use Excel (the default program to run .csv files) to modify this file as instructed in order to add a unification of Greece event, EUIII no longer seems to recognize this file at all. I even went and replaced it back to normal with the backup file I created, eliminating the greek event, but it still doesn't seem to recognize my text.csv file! Now all of my text is messed up.

How do I fix this? Do I manually format it specially in /excel or OO calc? I mean, I can't even get the original file to work, after reinstalling EUIII and everthing.

Help! What else can I do, if even reinstalling the game doesn't work?

You should edit .csv and other EU III text files with notepad. I have heard that Excel messes them up.

You need to register yoru game to get into the tech support forum.

As to your issue, uninstall, make sure your text.csv is deleted and reinstall. Don't see why you were messing this it to add an event though.

Don't use Excel to edit Paradox .csv unless your system is set to use semi-colon [;] as a field separator instead of an actual comma [,]. Also, you should not edit text.csv at all; if you want to add text just create your own file; the game will read all .csv files in the localization folder. Finally, unless you have a very long event text or want to have multiple languages you can put all your event text directly in the event.

Thanks for the advise! I was just trying to follow the directions on how to add that... I'm inexperienced at modding.

I'll attempt to delete and reinstall.

No more messing with text.csv. I'll make my own. Got it.

Click on the My Games/Registrations link at the top of this page. Enter your CD code and you're done, basically.
