Texas is more doomed than Byzantine in a 1453 (Or just before) EU scenario :D

nope really, even if the usa accepts your alliance i think the AI is not that good helping you. Even if you use the USA you'll have a hard time with mexico.

Just start as mexico, make a peace agreement with texas and then colonize or attract inmigrants.

If you savescum you can get the US to come into the war, after which time you've got a pretty good chance at surviving. If you do survive the war it's a lot of fun: you get to steal states from the CSA, fight Mexico, etc.

Word of warning, though: for whatever reason, my Texas game turned to stupid around the 1870's, when everyone in my country stopped buying fruit. I can't tell if it's a straight up bug or if the world is just facing a crushing fruit shortage or what, but things stopped being fun around the time all my pops weren't getting their fruity life needs fulfilled. The people of the Republic of Texas were faced with a tough choice and three hard options: 1. Take some of the money being used to buy every day and luxury goods, use it to spend extra on bananas, 2. Go without bananas and continue enjoying your otherwise high standard of living, and 3. REVOLUTION. I don't agree with their choice, but it's their right.

That's hilarious.

Bet you they thought the fruits were being hoarded by the capitalist fat cats.

Survival as Texas

At the moment I am playing as Texas, and I have managed to survive, though in a quite alternative way. When the game started, I built a clipper transport and then sailed my 2 regiments down to Haiti and attacked the country. My 2 regiments easily won over the haitian army and I annexed the country. After some years I got an alliance with the USA and Mexico accepted a white peace. I am now in year of 1845, and still going strong.

Thats how I used to play small countries in EU3. I would quickly attack a weak island neighbor (especially if I knew I was going to be at war). THis made it so that I could lose my capital and still be fine.

It is a little underhanded, but if there is not really a legitamate option it might be the only way.
