I'm playing as an independent Texas, trying to keep slavery as long as i can as a challenge while fighting a battle not only against my own terrible finances but also against the hordes of laissez-faire nutjobs preventing me to even lay a single centimetre of rail in my Texas despite the year being 1867. Manifest Destiny didn't fire as it needs Texas to be integrated with the USA but they are doing very well, slavery is a hot topic as usual but the year being 1867 i kinda anticipated there would be no war.
But suddenly the Civil war erupts anyway and i decide to side with the Confederacy because... reasons. I ally with CSA while still being in the sphere of the USA and after a few years of relentless fighting the war ends with the signing of a white peace after Mexico enters the war separately against the USA, hoping to grab some land out west.
Three hurrahs for the Confederacy and the preservation of slavery, states rights and all that other stuff !!
Aint that right Mr. Davis? Davis...? What are you saying?
The CSA is abolishing slavery and the USA is keeping it despite the year being 1872? Cut it out man! We all know we went to war together to keep it in place! You gotta be kidding me, let me take a look...
Oh, you weren't kidding?
So basically this is where i am now. Independent pro-slavery Texas with my apparently abolitionist allies in the CSA to the east and my puppet-master, the slave-holding USA in the North a few years after the peace. Another war is on it's way and this time for poop n' giggles i will be siding with the USA as they are my new brothers in slavery, apparently.
EDIT: Is this common? I find it absolutely hilarious and i have never seen it before. What triggers it? High militancy and conciousness in the south? They didn't have any revolution or something like that.
