Testing v1.06 C.O.R.E. v0.82 Pondering!

While waiting for v1.06 PROMISED patch!!!!!!

I'm playing Germany it's Oct 16th. 1939 and looking around the world. The War started against Allies on July 20th. 1939. I attacked Denmark to close straits to ally’s surface ships and only got to take two provinces to keep before peace was made with out my blessing. I wanted all of country and a chance at some of there fleet. I have left Poland with one province along time ago the most North East one. Taken out Yugoslavia in August as planned for her ports and resources. With an eye towards Greece, Turkey, Middle East (North Africa, Suez and oil countries, and to bring to bear a southern threat to U.S.S.R. oil fields. Was moving troops to pre-attack positions for West Front war with France, U.K. as the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg were neutral. I attack Netherlands in Sept. 22nd. 1939 with Rommel/Gudarian 4 Arm & 4 Mot Div that has driven across Germany from Poland and 4 INF Div local garrison front troops. The Netherlands falls quickly but I pick up no naval forces. More INF Div are moving from Poland to attack points off Belgium. To my surprise France leaves 1 Inf. Div. on the bottom of the Wall I can't believe my eyes 10 Inf and 2 Cav Div to North are on garrison duty. Now the French has been shuffling troops around this area on direct border for a while now. I call every TAC & Div bomber formations to that area. My 8 Ftr groups are all ready on West Front to protect me from attacks by French or U.K. air forces. I attack with my forces next to province which happen to be 2 AA Inf & 2 Eng Div. which I split into two forces because of speed and rush more troops to the this area to reinforce the possible success of attack. I threaten the Northern province with an attack from non-riverside with 10 INF Div main attacks. Total of 12 Div there at this time with arrival of 8 Inf Div from closed down Poland Front moving to possible attack positions and garrison force of 2 AA Inf & 2 Inf Div that were waiting for possible attacks. My attack is a successive and France is now in trouble.

So far I've seen little resources from taking Capitals. I like to save game before a fall of enemy capital to check things out later. Many note trouble with game in captured resources in this version!

AI still has trouble defending! I went on purpose to checked out the game to see what some other MAIN countries are doing so far. The first big one I checked after France, U.K. is the U.S.S.R. it had listed under army 30 Ftr units about 10 Tac bombers has about 90 odd ground Divisions deployed on map and listed. The real BIG SURPRISE is 113 mostly Inf Divisions hidden away in limbo not deployed yet that have been built! There numbers are not reported any where on the nice game military info lists even for the Russian player to see obviously yet anyone else. Now with or with out fog of war turned on! You never should have complete intelligence knowledge of enemy units numbers, etc. especially for a good game. Now I can see why some people are saying they have no chance against U.S.S.R. player as Germany. No player not of an alliance will know every thing about every player numbers and the unit’s capabilities. For example the U.S.S.R. player had 30 Ftr units but only 16 had 5-attack value 4 with 4-attack value and about 10 with 0 attack value. He would know their capabilities for sure, and maybe his allies.

I like the game system in general, good game topic WWII! It's a real long game to play with much detail, but I played many long games before on WWII for example World in Flames board game system. The core group of my gaming friends use to get together and play this at least once a week for 6, 8 some times when things were really hot that night 10 hours of tense gaming fun. The many games we played lasted any where from at least 1 or 2 months too over 6 for a winner to appear at times.

The game patches have improved each time the game play in some way. I just found this game in July 2003 still with it so far. I have not set my sights on playing a game to completion yet kept saying it still needs a little more fine tuning to make it worth a real long game. I tried new things with each time I started the game up. Learned new options in the game system. I played each patch looking for improvements and possible problems. Always visited forum for some answers and waited patiently for next patch. Glad to find forum since RULE BOOK WAS ONLY GOOD FOR TOILET PAPER IF YOU REALLY RAN OUT since other paper is softer.

The World market trade deals still need to be fixed a big problem continues. You should be able to approach any country and offer a trade deals with a fix yearly trade renewals options if both parties’ wish too does so and continue to accept. A country with a land link assuming rail connection or right of way passage threw allies or friendly neutrals could possibility use infrastructure of provinces passed threw as a cap limit as a possibility for max shipment size of resources that they may send if they wish too. My empty trading ships leaving home should be able to move things like other resources; especially supplies and oil back to location of where it starts from in the first place. Strategic redeployment needs work also, with the unit or units being removed having a set destination, and an equable time charge to change location while on route. You should get some idea of this cost before you make final decision to continue or make that fateful decision.

Well been working on this for a while need to get some sleep. Waiting patiently! I hope my thoughts reach the right people out there I believe you need some help to get there still! :)

Some good observations. Some noted elsewhere I think.

As for what you say about WM.
1) The WM works fine for me. Sure it aint great and logically some of the amouts available dont match the amounts traded, but its balanced and you can get what you need from it, although I have problem when playing Italy.

2) In my games as Germayn, the French always move their Maginot defenders so that one some occasions they have 1 div there. Almost everytime its reinforced in time, as I have take a pz corp there to take advantage of this, Ive only taken it once.

3) If you dont want to knw what the other nations have, DONT look at the ledger and DONT save and load up as them..... I ask you :rolleyes: j/k ;)

4) Two gamey things, Dont stack air units more than 5. And finish off nations. Dont stay at war with them if you can annex or puppet. Not realistic in my opinion. :)

5) I agree SR doesnt play realistic and I only use it in MP, only in SP when not for combat i.e just relocating and I always wait 1wk extra to deply.

6) User Manual. Check my sig, its not complete but it MIGHT contain a few more bits of basic info, of course cant replace the forum

7) Welcome to the club. This game has had be captivated since MAR 03 when I got it last year.

Hi 2coats,

1) Worldtrade Market problem where Steel is at max of 9999 and I can only trade for 100 no mater how much I pay for is a problem!

2) Maginot Line leaving 1 division and moving others around in unknow quest. There should be a set minimum amount of divisions on the Maginot Line and that they should not move and be aloud to dig-in to strength 10!

3) As I indicated it was a test game and I'm waiting patiently for patch! I would not check if it was not a test game, and I like to get an idea how computer handles things.

4) Testing!

5) When I purchase a product for money ($40.00) I would like it to work reasonably well or why spend my money on it. Yes it's a complicated game that's why I'm reasonably patient and waiting for patchs. In a strange sence I'm a paying beta play tester anddo you feel I should feel privilege. I wounder how much HOI2 will be like HOI, and will I get a discount for my paying beta testing?
