NEW POWER SYSTEM IMPLEMENTED
As yuou may have seen the new power point system has been constructed by our dear friend Tonio. All hail him!
The points are thus recalculated and now it looks like this (quoted from post 1)

As you can see all teams remain at the same position in the race.
I will rewrite the power point rules in post 4 as soon as I get time. For the time being the new rules can be found in post 1 of this thread

There may still be more changes done to the system but as always we will only implement changes if all agree. Tonio has suggested that the cap for naval size should be increased from a present value of 20. He also suggested that the points given for army and naval size should not be dependent on the DP slider choices the nation has done (which increases/decreases the price for soldiers and ships) but being based on what the value had been had the sliders been at a middle position. Your views on these two items are as always wellcome.

With three matches left of the bridge championship it is awfully close now.
1. Italy 606, 2. Norway 548, 3. Holland 539, 4. Sweden 538, 5. Ireland 533, 6. Iceland 527, 7. Poland 521. All in all 32 nations competing. First 6 qualifies for the WC in Shanghai and I wanna go to Shanghai! This afternoon we meet Scotland and then we have Holland (world champs in 1993) in the evening and tomorrow in the last match (both matches will be transmitted on the internet) we will face Iceland (World champs 1991) in a what looks like a very crucial match. We have the toughest last three matches of all the top teams.
Conerning the scandal with the player sent home I can only say that you my friends who have seen so many quarrels in our community can well imagine what the actual player told his partner, both personally and to 3rd parties. Bridge is a partnership game, you play together with another person and your way of communicating with him is quite limited, so it is very important to correctly interpret your partner's messages to you (as well as understanding what your opponents do). Thus comments like "do you not understand that if so and so then so and so and thus it was obvious for you what to do.... stupido" (the last word perhaps only implicated...

) are not not that uncommon. In a way one can say that to play bridge means you learn a lot of human shortcomings. BTW, in yesterday's Daily Telegraph (not the part published on the web unfortunately) there was a little written about this incident. It is not an everyday occurence in our world that a captain sends home one of his players.
And Aladar, although I never wrote a 6 page document,

I have written a little on two web sites, the site of the Swedish federation and incidentally at a Danish site (the player sent home plays a lot of bridge in Denmark). Here is a link to the Danish site.
