This MT system is getting annoying. Maybe we should just switch to random leaders.

On the contrary. It is getting less and less annoying the better it becomes. And it does improve all the time.

That some people do not read instructions or fail to observe their responsibilities can never be allowed to stop progress in science.

Well, it still rewards bad play. The only progress made is that now you basicly get an average of how bad you play averaged over a couple sessions.

It was absolutely not needed to upload 1472e.
There is http://www.europa2.ru/cgi-bin/leagu...alkyrie.net VIII&lang=eng&yearsave=1472edited and link there to generated leaders http://www.europa2.ru/vnet8/leader-XX-1472edited.zip

You need to remove only "edited" and host with this file. Why to flood stats with that ?

In my post above I explained exactly why I uploaded twice. I missed the line saying "leaders were generated for this session".

Now I can see that when select the 1472e save I get the line saying "Random leaders were generated for the previous session" a nd when I click on it I get the leaders for today's session, i.e. not the "previous" one.

When I inspect the save I can see that the one called 1472edited is without leaders while the one called 1472e has the leaders. The 1472edited save can thus be removed from your site.

I can also see that when I select the 1472edited save on your site the line "Random leaders are generated for the next session" is displayed, as it should be, and it shows the leaders for today's session. But that was the line I said I could not see yesterday and which was the cause of me uploading two saves.

I now ask you once again: please Tonio, state the correct algorithm for uploading and generating leaders, step by step please. The way I did it yesterday was apparenly not correct and it all got quite confused.

It rewards losing a lot of men, if from bad play or from e.g. good aggressive play you do not know.

If it is from bad play, well there is an old wisdom saying that what you learn from is your mistakes, thus to give MT for bad play is indeed a very realistic thing to do.

But more important is, as I have repeatedly stated, that we will not put the GMs in a position where they have to judge what wars are fake and what are not and we will not let players judge that either, as far as possible all parameters shall be objective, not subjective.

Further more: the explicit purpose of the MT concept is not to reward good military skills, but to make it more advantageous to make war. Why? Answer: because it makes for a more fun game if we have more wars. At least that is the reason I have sen presented. Now, the MT system we have encourages that, it encourages more wars. While a system that merely rewarded succesful wars would not achieve the same effect, such a system would encourage those good at making war to make war while it would discourage those who are not.

To Generate Leaders

1) Upload the most recent save to the stats site.

2) Go here http://www.europa2.ru/cgi-bin/leagu...&season=Valkyrie.net VIII&lang=eng&choicet=20

3) Select Random Leaders right at the top of this page

4) Fiddle with settings then enter password and generate.

5) Download the leaders file from the top of the next page.

This is exactly what I did yesterday. Read post 695 and you will find that your steps 1-4 are my steps 1-2. The problem sets in at my step 3 which says

3 Made refresh on stats page but it did not present any "leaders generated for this session"-line.

Perhaps this is some kind of misuderstanding or I need better glasses, perhaps that line was present??

Today, I realised what I did wrong in the MT calculation while waiting on the bus, at least I think I know what was wrong.

I had used 1+(1.5*0.5)...

The inheritance was fixed to 1.5, thus I should not have multiplied it to 0.5, making the inheritance 0.75 instead of 1.5, am I right?

I then thought of Lykos post about the MT, the one with all the wrongs in it, and I realised what he meant, I should have used 3*0.5 instead of 1.5*0.5, as 3*0.5=1.5, the fixed inheritance, am I right?

If I have gotten it wrong now, I will cry.

Yes you are right. But you do not need to calculate 3*0.5 or 3/2. You could just use the value 1.5 as I said a couple of times. For this session that value was hard-coded as we programmers say.

Anyhow I am very glad that you spend your time on the bus to the school thinking about our game. That's the dedication we want from our players. :)

You will receive +1 MT the next session as a reward for this!

Nah sorry, just joking, we cannot hand out rewards like that in a game like this :D

I like these little moments of revalation I have. :)

I know that I dont have to use 3*0.5, I just used it as an example.

I didnt think of it on the way to school, I was too busy looking cool to the other children who takes the bus, I was also too tired to think of it.
It was on the way home I thought about it, I was at the busstop with another man, who was rather large, but it looked like he was quite nice.
Then I realised the bus wouldnt show for another 10 mins, so my mind wandered off, and then EU2 came up, then Daniel, then MT and so on and so forth. :)

I dont want any rewards anyway, its obvious I will win the game anyway. :p

Bob, thanks a lots for this guide.

Daniel, when you generate leaders you see confirmation screen. At the same time the sign appears, exact what Bob showed in screenshots.

I suppose you didn`t refresh the page, or it was done from cash for some reasons.

When posting in Aladar's thread where he asks for a sub I I came to think of something that I believe is worthy of attention.

As you all know we have expecially harsch rules on being in time for the session, not only do you get a reward if you do but your nations will be AIed if you are not. We will not do our best to get you a sub, in fact I will tend to do nothing although I may assist if I am in the mood.

Anyhow, this is the result

Session 1. I think all was there on time but one player had not secured his installation worked. It took us around an hour to sort out this mess. Session started around 20.00.

Session 2. All except one was in time. The latecomer was only 5 minutes late. As I remember we started without anyone playing his nation and no edits were done after the session because of this. The session was marred by a bug in the monarch ID but that problem arose later in the session. Session started at 19.01.

Session 3. Tonio got his connection down but fortunatelty I had been chatting with Wonko and asked him to come in case we had problems. So we got started around 19.02. The one being late in session two was in vnet five minutes before start time.

Tonight we will sart around the same time as in the two previous ones, unless someone present gets sudden problems. For those present we will of course do our best to assist them in getting subs and whatever.

-----

I believe that these methods - not insignificant rewards/penalties - clearly have shown they work in practice. No one likes to get penalised and all like to get rewards. Thus people will be on time much more if you use such a method. Simple as that.

Let us all resolve that we simply refuse to join games that do not apply this kind of efficient system. If so we will have created a better and more enjoyable environment for us all. :)
