I pitched this question to Daniel, but he was undecided and advised me to see how everyone else feels about it:

Lagloans: I as Skåne has had a total of 5 lagloans, which of I have allready payed 3. I admit there is a certian amount of skill in avoiding lagloans, but when I have 250d in treasury and STILL get another loan the second I press the button, it gets kind of irritating. I propose the wipe of at least one of the lagloans, since Skåne has already payed enought in interest, inflation, technology, and not least in lost opportunities.

Other nations supposedly has ahd the same problem, what do you guys think?

This is often an annoying thing, that is mostly caused by lag. In which case i find it okay to delete the loan if you have the cash.

My position to lagloans is always strict - you have watch for them by yourself. If you get lagloan at 220 ducats in treasury, be sure your treasury won`t go under 30 until the next rehost. We all have the same risk, except the host.

The maximum kind act to the player according to my opinion - removing lagloan by taking it from treasury. Specially it should be when Spain gets 1000 ducats lagloan.

Well, similar to what FJ wrote I basically think that for us to do, in a game as this, such a thing as deleting lagloans we would need an unanimous consent. Apparently we do no have it and thus I think no lagloans should be removed.

Remember: all AARs must be written this evening at the latest.

Daniel, post #3 about MT is rather empty.

C) ARMY AND NAVY MORALE

For each 0.1 higher morale at 50% maintenance your army has compared to the one human player who has the lowest such morale you get 1 PP.
Same for navy morale.

Formula: (Your morale at 50% maintenance - the lowest human ditto) / 10.

Example. You have 4.5 in morale at 50% maintenance for army. The lowest such morale for any human played nation in the game is 3.7. Then you get 4.5-3.7 = 0.8 i.e. 8 PP for your army morale value. Then the same calculation is made for navy morale.

Don`t you mean (Your morale at 50% maintenance - the lowest human ditto) / 0.1 ?

Besides i inform that 50% morale almost won`t let reach 7.000 cap. So when at the end of the game everyone is rather equal to have 7.000 morale, the Rating will award the one with biggest value at 50%.

Right then, could not some kind of middle ground be arranged? Like say comnbining the loans with minimum amount of inflation? i.e 400d with say 5% interest instead of 2*200 with 11% and 12% respectively? This would decrease the yearly interest by a large amount, but I would still have to pay up.

Otherwise, could not one of the 2 loans be struck from the lists, with lowered interest on the remaining loan? 5 loans for such a small nation in the early 1400s really hampers even the simplest plans...

Fj i know how it feels to get lag loans as soon as u need to buy anything but i usually deal with it to always have 200 or more in my treasure so i can first of pay them back when it's needed and it's more likly that i don't have another lag loan.

I don't like the idea of deleting lag loans. How can we be sure that ppl have lag loans instead of real loans? I'm not saying that u FJ is tricking us now but if we decide that lag loans should be deleted after every season, u'll see alot of ppl have tons of lag loans suddenly:)

i hate lagloans but i don't like the idea of deleting lag loans because of fraud and tricks:)

Ahem, I can see your concern, and I wouldn't make such a hassle out of this thing if it was less money... This is loans which costs me a total amount exceeding 2000d. The fact that I fight in winters with high attrition makes it rather hard not to use a small amount of cash for reinforcements. I should also mention that I am almost never totaly out of cash, hence my increased inflation. The fact that I got a new lagloan with 250d in treasury really irritates me. This was money not saved by yearly earnings, but by minting and thus hurting my already suffering tech. The interest for the two remaining loans are higher than the upkeep of my fleet and army combined.

I understand this is a "Test of Skill", but the fact of the matter is that lagloans are not skill-related in it's pure sense. In some cases it's just unluck, and in the case of hosts totaly non-existent.

EDIT: Just a suggestion: Rewards for AAR could be used for wiping loans. Daniel was against this, but I would like to know what the other players think.

Regarding division by 0.1: Correct, even simpler is to multiply by 10 instead of divide by 0.1

Regarding being close to 7: Correct. However, the argument for using the 50% morale was likewise good. In fact one could view the 7 as a rather artificial limit but if course, it does exist in the game.

Another solution could be to merely force everone to go to 100% maintenance as we end the game i December 1819. Yes I think we will do so. Please change it to 100% morale.

This looks most excellent Tonio. However, I am at work and cannot test it. And tonight I am playing DbD. Perhaps I can sneak a timeslot when I come home tonight.

Thank you very much for you continuous effort to support this game with suitable adaptations of your great sites. :)

----

If anyone is worth a deletion of a lag loan it is Tonio! ;) Perhaps we could rename the game to a "Test of Skill and Helpfulness"! :D

Daniel, i can calculate 50% and 100% theoretical morale despite actual position of the slider. It doesn`t matter for me if the country uses 50% or 100%, i show both values in stats. So i can calculate both this values without problems.

Ok, i make change to 100%.

hmm that's instresting but i wouldn't say wipe of loans only wipe of maybe 1 loan but not 1000 ducats loans because that would only make the money reward be useless for along time. but then again ppl can exploit this so i don't want it but i at the same time i think it's a good idea:).

the point is: i don't know:)
