Terrible, Terrible Problem (for me) Help please!

Hi, all. I just did a completely fresh install of Eu2, then installed the 1.05 patch and then installed the latest Eep version 1.1. The game program seemed to work okay until I tried to actually start a new game- I decided to run Eep_GC_Byz as Moscovy. The scenario loaded-- until this error message popped up: Critical Error!: couldn't open file db\events\major_man.txt
I clicked ignore and the game crashed. I did a complete wipe and reinstall again and the same problem arose.. anyone know what I should do?

maybe if you reboot it will work?

You need to open the game through the EEP icon.

The EEP website should have in like 50 point font RUN EEP IN MODDIR MODE! then say how this is done, for those out there who are allergic to readme's
