Terra Incognita as Ottomans

Hello all,

I'm trying to go for a World Conquest as the Ottomans on the current patch.
Its 1650 right now and I thought it would be better to take Africa and America first.
However, all of America is TI for me, except for some colonial nations I have been at war with, so I cant conquer it.
I even took Curacao, because I hoped provinces around there would spread faster, thus removing Terra incognita, but it didnt help.

I wasnt planning on taking Exploration ideas because I think I really need Diplomatic next, and Explo doesnt really help me besides removing TI.

If its relevant: besides Res Publica i have none of the DLC.

If there are any other WC tips those are welcome too of course.

It should all be revealed to you pretty soon. Central Africa will be last, but in time to conquer.

If you dont want to wait for that, declare war to e.g. Castile, land into their colonial nations who are still in terra incognita, and reveal all their territory by just walking into it. When you have a nearby army, you can also ask a non-colonizing nation to share their maps with you in the diplomatic screen.

I hope it will be revealed soon, will be waiting for it.
However reaching the colonies in war is impossible because the sea tiles are also Terra incognita right now so I cant ship an army over.

That. If you don't have the DLC, exploration, at least as one of the last idea groups, might be needed. I think especially on the northeast siberian tribes. I don't know if this region spreads fast enough to you.

Okay, so you're saying Explo might be mandatory, but not for America then.

So you too are expecting at least (most of) America's TI will vanish soon?

You acquire all colonial nations when annexing or vassalizing their overlord, so in an ideal WC scenario, any effort you put into conquering the Americas is kind of wasted.

I just had this in early 18th century, also with Ottomans, that all of America but the wastelands was revealed to me. You should know how the spread works. As soon as you meet a new nation, counters are triggered to share their maps with you after a certain time. According to wiki this is speeded up by having same culture and good relations. In my current game it's 1730 and I see Americas, but not northeast siberia. There aren't many nations that see this region in game start and not many asian nations, if any, go for exploration. So you probably need to wait for an european colonizer to explore it and then spread it to you. And this might not even happen, if colonizers were taken out too early or something. Since I have the DLC it's no problem for me, but for you it might become one. But you can wait to the last idea group. if it isn't revealed then, take exploration, fill out the first two ideas, discover it and dow on the tribes. It's a walkover, you only need a fleet/march through many uncolonized provinces coming from Manchuria.

Thanks all, it is 1665 now and suddenly all of America was revealed to me at once.

To bump this thread a little, in my game its 1710 and I can only see South America but the sea provinces haven't been revealed. Its starting to become a major issue as I can't get enough war score on Portugal's remaining African provinces as I'm unable to reach their colonies. Is there anything I can do to speed up the spread of provinces? I'm assuming that even if I buy Mare Nostrum I still won't be able to steal maps unless I start a new game?

You can increase relations with someone who has the maps you need. What nation you play and since when you have contact to Portugal? I guess it's only a question of 10-20 years they will be revealed.

I'm playing as the Ottomans so I've had contact with Portugal from the beginning. I had Naples as a vassal for a while and now have Catalonia so I've generally had at least one nation with good relations. I can see some provinces in North America but the majority is still covered. Weirdly the northern part of Norway and Iceland are still hidden as well. The middle of Africa has been revealed to me but not South Africa.

I've tried taking a province in South America to see if that helps somehow.
