what about biological/chemical weapons? :p

I'd like to have a seperate technology tree for poorer countries that would include stuff like that. However, if we don't get that done for the alpha then I'd rather not include them since it wouldn't make sense in the main countries.

Communications Jam

Codenamed "Wolfpack" by the US military, this technology blocks all radio communications within a set radius. Not only effective on the battlefield, but this device can also seriously hamper guerilla activity, making cell phone triggers for bombs worthless on top of blocking communication signals.

Basic IEDs

Improved explosion devices, or IEDs, are an asset to any guerilla network. While the knowledge on how to make basic explosives already exists, taking the step to train soliders in how to make them and setting up stockpiles doesn't.

Advanced IEDs

As improvised explosion devices started becoming more popular, the quest is always to maximize the efficiency and ease of these bombs. More household chemicals are discovered to explode, napalm effects are added, and the shrapnel chosen is usually things that cause maximum damage.

I have always know that the Russians are behind the UFO's, they and their ekranoplanes and plasma-MIG's... ;)

Mmmmh, anyway, I'll try to find more descriptions for computer techs a bit later... School...

I think that TP's can be replaced with helicopters. Afterall, it's all about MR planes nowadays...

Anyhoo, here is one computer tech description more:

Standardized Hardware

At first every computer was unique. They would be used for specific tasks or served as prototypes. But as computers become smaller, more powerfull and usable the need for standardized, compatible hardware rises.

And here is the AMOS tech:

Avanced Mortar Systems

Modern mortars have been here ever since WWI. The fundamental concept has remained the same for decades. However some countries have started to look for new uses of mortars, resulting in automated mortars and advanced mortar systems. The prime example of an advanced mortar systems is the Finnish AMOS. The breech-loaded, double barreled and vechile mounted 120mm mortar with 360* degree firing arc is able to devastate large areas in matter of minutes. It can turn an APC or an IFV to a very mobile and a very potent firebase.

+2 soft attack for inf
+1 hard attack for inf
+2 soft attack for mot(mech replacement?)
+1 hard attack for mot

Extensive broadband coverage
As most PCs got hooked up on the WWW, the need for increased capacity and speed grew. To accomodate this, the government started to expand the broadband coverage.

perhaps suitable for poor countries?

Hello! Would you like some land doctrines and techs?

Urban Warfare Theoretics(early land doctrine)

Many countries have some kind of urban warfare experience, even if it is outdated, purely theoretic or small-scale. Still the experiences, theories and training will prove valuable during wartime.

Small urban attack(2%) and defence bonuses to all land units

Urban Warfare Equipment(infantry technology)

Some equipment and weapons have been either found to be effective in urban enviroment or have been developped for urban warfare. Examples beign the urban camoufladge, submachineguns and flashbang grenades.

Urban attack bonuses (2-3%) for land units

Urban Warfare Experience(late land doctrine)

With actual experience from fighting at "million citites" and other urban areas mistakes can be avoided and new tactics can be developped.

Urban attack bonuses(2-3%) for land units

Peacekeeping(early land doctrine)

Even if military force can't stop wars, it can prevent them from escalating and it can stop crimes against humanity. Although everybody doesn't believe that the peacekeeping cause is really so righterous as it is claimed to be, peacekeeping experience can be invaluable for a nation.

Urban attack bonus(1%) to all land units
Jungle/Desert/hill/forest attack/defence +5% for land units

Extensive peacekeeping experience(middle/late land doctrine)

Some countries have peacekeeping experience of decades and their methods are more refined than the younger peacekeeping nations, examples beign UK, France, Germany, USA, Finland and Sweden. This experience can be put to a good use during wartime and it can replace lacking war experience

Urban attack bonus(1%) to all land units
Jungle/Desert/Hill/Forest attack/defence +5% for land units

Well, Right now, I'm just doing the basics of looking up model names. I also have a couple of plans rolling around in my head. I believe the major catagories should be:

Infantry Tech
Armored Tech
Electronics/Computer Tech
Industrial Tech
Space/Sattellite Technology (replace Nuke)
Rocketry Tech
Naval Tech
Gunnery Tech (Replace Artillery/Same as Artilley)
Submarine Tech
Aircraft Tech (Replace Heavy_Aircraft)
Helicopter Tech (Replace Light aircraft)
Land Doctrine
Naval Doctrine
Air Doctrine

Any suggestions?

how about combine nuke tech into something, say, rocket category?
we need nukes and nuclear plants and energy stuff, etc.

If this sound stupid, never mind.

I'm thinking..... MILITARY THEMED COMPUTER VIRUS RESEARCH!!

We could have a 'theory' tech called..uhhhh.... "Military Computer Virus Use"
(Name is bad, can be replaced)

And 'application' techs that interfere with enemy organization, IC (all effects would be temporary), research, stuff like that. Nasty, isnt it?
