Is it just me, or is the Technology Tree UI nearly unusable? There doesn't seem to be any way to move around to look at the trees. My only recourse is to zoom waaaaaaay out, and then try to zoom back in on a different section that I want to look at. And I better have paid close attention to the first section, because I'm not easily flipping back and forth between them.

To make matters worse, in the tech categories with more than one tree, I sometimes accidentally zoom out uselessly in a way that doesn't show all the trees if I have the mouse too far to the left or right depending on how it's lined up. If that happens, I have to:
1) reposition my mouse
2) zoom in again
3) reposition my mouse
4) zoom out again
5) carefully reposition my mouse to where I want to zoom
6) zoom in again

I simply use the mouse middle click to drag the trees around on all tree types tech, military traditions, and missions.
Does your mouse not have a middle click button?

Mine doesn't, it is pretty small because I have small hands. Nice way to make the game completely unplayable. I doubt it works with laptop "mousepads" either.

It's soooo much nicer that what we had before imo. I just use middle mouse click and it doesn't seem to be too bad, but perhaps there's a way you can alter the keybind for it?

It doesn't. It would be more intuitive (as well as more versatile) if, like in other games, moving through the tress could be made by moving the mouse/finger in pad while left-clicking.

LOL. Why would they put that on middle mouse button when right click isn't being used? All unforced errors lead to Imperator: Rome.

My opinion it should be the right mouse button. Naturally, that's what I tried first, then left mouse button. Then I figured out it was the slimy middle mouse button...

As someone who uses middle mouse click and drag to move the map around (and finds all other ways inferior and heretical) the first thing I tried was the middle mouse button. I never even considered that it would be an issue for the 4 people who don't have a middle mouse button (and if you're playing games with a laptop trackpad then you have only yourself to blame. Just buy a mouse, theyre like 5 quid)

Hang on, you mean to say moving the map around with the middle mouse button is better than WSAD? You're honestly the only person I've heard say that...

I think the new UI is very nice. Middle mouse button has been the proper way to move the screen in most software I use for a long time so it feels very natural.

That being said, if there isn't an option to change that keybind then there should be, since there are instances where access to middle mouse button isn't an option.

I believe it is a quite rare approach , and should not be implemented like this

Feeling like an absolute savage right now - even though I know I can use the middle button, for some reason I'm preferring zooming in and out. I do the same for google maps, wtf is wrong with me...

I think you are very wrong here.
Putting aside your condescending tone towards people who do not have a middle mouse button, I have actually found very few games (or other software) that actually use that mousebutton at all.

I personally dislike that mousebutton, when I actually use my mouse, because it feels off to use. Also, it works only half the time when I try to use it in the technology UI, no idea why.

My middle mouse button is the scroll wheel, and it doesn't really work well at all.

I usually have to press it extremely hard to get it to register. At the very least I would like for the button to be mappable.

My middle mouse button is the scroll wheel, and it doesn't really work well at all.

I usually have to press it extremely hard to get it to register. At the very least I would like for the button to be mappable.
100 % this. It's very uncomfortable. Makes no sense why they didn't make it the right mouse button. Hope there'll be a mod to change it, because it's the one thing that bothers me most right now in the game.

My main gripes with invention UI / UX is that the search function only gives a very subtle indication of search results and no distinction between searches that find something/searches that find nothing.

Also, to the extent that there are differences in how impactful different invention are, they are supposed to look different? if they are, I’m not noticing these differances at a glance.

I end up looking around the invention trees for 10-20 minutes at a time... I suppose ill get used to where things are, but still.
