Since buying and installing Leviathans, I've had a strange bug where by certain techs in certain tech trees don't go away once research, eventually ending in a dead end where I'm unable to research any more techs in the tree.

So, for example, let's take the Engineering tree. I train Engineering Facility, Tech 2 Spaceport, and Solar arrays. When the next three come up, the Engineering facility is there again but because it's already been researched, it can't be selected for research again, leaving me with two out of three to chose from. Then let's say I research Robotics, then Fusion Missiles, when the next three techs appear, two of the three are Engineering Facility and Robotics, leaving me with one. If I'm lucky the third teck will be something I can research. If I'm not, all three will be the Engineering Facility, Robotics and Fusion missiles leaving me with nothing left to research and the entire Engineering tree blocked off. It's usually a little further into the three before this happens, usually somewhere between early and mid-game. It's also not limited to Engineering, I've seen it occur in Physics, although not yet seen it occur in Society.

Steps I've taken are disabling all mods, disabling all DLC and even reinstalling the game. The latter works for a while but then comes back in after the first game. Point of note: When I uninstalled the game I deleted any and all folders associated with Stellaris, including the save games, yet it comes back eventually and means I can't complete a game.

I'm not aware of this as a general problem.

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox/Stellaris folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.

Done. All DLC and all Mods disabled. Problem persists.

Here's an image showing the problem:

Stellaris.png

As you can see, there are two Geothermal Fracking Techs but one doesn't have the specific details on it. I can research either but once I do, at some point soon that tech will show up again but since I've already researched it, selecting it does nothing, simply taking you back to 'Select Research'. Research on and I then get two Powered Exoskeletons, with again the same problem. Rinse and repeat until you're left with all your tech options being the tech options that were somehow duplicated, thus blocking off any further research into that Tree.

I've owned the game since release and did not have this problem prior to purchasing and installing Leviathans DLC, yet, as I said, disabling that DLC makes no difference.

Must be a bug then, although one I've never seen or heard of.

Please post in detail in the Bug Reports forum here, and attach a save game that shows the issue, so the QA folks can look into it.

All the best!

I think I've found the problem. A mod appears to have been causing the problem just by being installed. Even when not activated the mod appears to have been causing this issue which is why it didn't crop up on my first game after reinstall because that test occurred prior to mods installing. Most odd. That being said, this is my first game since reinstall so if it persists I'll file a bug report.
