tech group change event for otomans: what to choose?

Hi,
there's this "Muslims admitted to the Janissary" on my screen and I am wondering, which tech group is better (for the ottomans and generally, if there is a difference), orthodox or sunni(or the one one otomans have from teh begining)?

(I'm sorry if it was discussed before, but I just can't find the search button anywhere)

I think you are confusing tech group with the religion. Tech group determines how quickly your country advances in technology. There are no other boni or penalties so the choice is pretty straightforward. From best to worst, the tech groups are: Latin, Orthodox, Muslim, Chinese, Exotic, or something like that. I might have missed a name or two but you get the idea.

Ottomans start the game with Latin tech group, so the answer to your question is that it is better to go down to Orthodox than down to Muslim, if you can live with other consequences of the choice. Also be aware that AGCEEP events are usually entangled in a complex web so a choice that seems better at the moment might bring even worse consequences in future events.
