One of my favorite parts of HOI 1 (and biggest missed parts of HOI2) was the extraneous information provided in each Tech description. With the return of modular research, I think it would be a nice flavor to add in a paragraph or two for each tech. It would describe what the tech is, and why it was important for the war. You could have a brief differentiation between Decimetric and Centrimetric radars, or what exactly a Kampfgruppe is.

Also, one of the nice parts of the Total Realism Project mod for HOI2 is the inclusion of "News of the World" events that give you information about the actual events leading up to the outbreak of war in Europe. It gives you an idea about when, for example, the Anschluss is going to occur. Some may find these annoying but, like in TRP, you can have an option to turn them off.

Olympic games could be there to and so on - i like the idea!

This is great too. I like the idea of more events lowering dissent (or creating it). The mods have done a great deal of research into events, resource exchanges, etc. I would be great if Paradox incorporated some of that information.

I know that Lothos was the lead on the TRP mod and (pretty sure) will be working on HOI3, so I hope some of that info carries over.

Seconded. I especially enjoyed (Geekiness Alert) the last bit of tech info which stated the historic counterparts. ex. "90mm anti-aircraft gun...blah blah blah....Historically this was the vaunted German 88mm gun, which was widely used as an anti-tank weapon." etc.

If only they'd been more thorough. I distinctly remember combing the carrier techs looking for something other than a Japanese model.

Tech teams that can co operate i projects would be cool

Keeping tech teams at all (with the revamped tech system and all), even if only for flavours sake would already be cool enough for me.

Or how about having several companies coming up with competing designs for the same piece of equipment, so you can choose between a Junkers Ju-87 Stuka, a Heinkel He-87 Stuka and a Messerschmidt Me-87 Stuka ... preferably with hidden stats and having a +1 or -1 in one parameter or the other ...

Good point.
I have suggested that the HOI2 tech teams make a comeback, but are really there for almost pure flavor reasons. If the combination of multiple tech team's skills in a particular area are somehow responsible for a nation's research point generation in that area, obviously certain tech areas would be optimal to research, but not required, allowing ahistorical research to happen, just not as well.
