At this point I hope it's definitely not Victoria 3 simply because I hate it when companies lie about an obvious prediction to "create surprise". I remember getting burned by that on Batman: Arkham Knight where everybody guessed the mysterious villain's true identity 5 minutes after the first reveal and the company had to lie about it in order to preserve some kind of suspense.

What's a bit less understandable is why they've chosen to make every tease theoretically applicable to Vicky. That doesn't feel accidental, so I assume that Johan is getting no small pleasure in trolling people.

This teaser is an obvious reference to Shakespeare, and as we all know, Shakespeare is British, which means... Rome 2 confirmed, because Shakespeare wrote Julius Caesar.

Well, that kills it. Their hints never went as far as some speculations. To me, there can be no Homer or Shakespeare to save antiquity. The bard is a standard fantasy trope. After the "spell"ing hint and the no (physical) Norway, I strongly think it will be a fantasy game. It's Johan's dream, after all. He failed a few years ago, and it must have been terrible for him. Now he is back, with refined ideas and a good team.

At least, all those hints made them aware, if they weren't already, that their fans are screaming for two sequels. Let's now hope to have Vicky 3 AND Rome 2 next year!

Not so negative. Tomorrow it's time for the bard could easily mean that Johan dresses up like shakespeare tomorrow and starts reciting julius ceasar before the announcement trailer.

PDX promised nothing and delivered something else. Had it done so, that could have been a lie indeed.
But they haven't promised anything. They just teasing us.

If it's not Rome 2 I'm gonna riot. Why? Because I can accept 1 dose of fantasy but not two. We have Stellaris, the next game that followed Stellaris should be historical. Paradox is renowned for producing historical games. And I don't want them to deviate from that like Creative Assembly have done with TW. More than half of their attention is now on Warhammer, and historical content has largely dried up because of it. Once you go fantasy, you never go back, sadly...

But they haven't promised anything. They just teasing us.

They've said that it's not going to be Victoria 3 (or that "Victoria 3 would not be announced at pdxcon" or some such wording), so if they then turned around and announced Victoria 3, that would indeed have been a lie. I hate that kind of thing, so I'm hoping that they are true to their word and this is actually some other project.

Rome whatever sounds very unappealing to me personally so I'm also hoping it's some third option, but everyone has their own preferences.

Given the teasers looks like more Crusader Kings 3 or some fantasy. They bought the company who made Age of Wonder 3 last year. They aren't sitting idle, and haven't announced anything new coming from that studio.

Also why CK3? Is the only current game that doesn't have a presentation about it's future at PDXCon, while is has sold much better than Rome and Vicky combined.

Triumph also have an announcement at ParadoxCon.
So... AoW4 would fall under their remit.

Uh, hate to be the one to break it to you but if you look at 'Upcoming Games' there is quite clearly a separate forum for the upcoming Triumph game that will be announced also.

CK3 is out because of no Norway hint.

Rome is however very likely to be the game as it is the only "major" paradox theme that works on all hints.

My point is you're mixing Paradox Development Studio with Triumph Studios when they're two completely separate working entities

I think what he is meaning is that aside from the subforum where this and all the other hints towards a new PDS game are put in there is also a separate subforum for the new TBA Triumph game. It has been confirmed that there will be two announcements, one from PDS and one from Triumph, so in the discussion what the PDS game is is the aquisition of Triumph not that interesting.

Which is why Triumph has a SEPARATE section in the 'Upcoming Games' forum on the Paradox website. This is my point............... Ok let me explain quite clearly. There will be TWO games announced this convention. ONE from Paradox Development Studio (Johan's game) AND a game from the makers of Age of Wonder (Triumph) but we knew that already because 1) Johan said as such all the way back in February when he's sitting along side Henrik and secondly, there's a separate forum in Upcoming Games which says so..

Actually, now that I thought about it, there is still one sliver of hope : it's that Triumph will announce something too. It should be a fantasy game, so if that's the case, why would Paradox also announce something to compete with their own acquisition? I'm puzzled. It should be Rome II, yet the hints don't seem to obviously point that way.

What Points towards a fantasy game, Rome have been hinted for years, fantasy game not as much.

Rome pass all hints and is the only "major" paradox theme to do so.

The only strength a fantasy game has here is that you can basically make a fantasy theme that pass all hints as long as fantasy is itself denied. There are infinte ways to make fantasy and no hint seems to have fantasy references which I would strongly see as fantasy is not going to happen.
