So I got a question from someone why I TC all my provinces in other subcontinents and not just center of trades. I answered because I get much more out of provinces if they're in a trade company than just being territorial cores. He then asked "what about goods produced modifier?".

So my question is. Should you add all provinces to trade company? What does that do to goods produced modifier? And im not exactly sure how goods produced modifier works so if anyone wanna explain it that would be great.

My reasoning was like: If you fully state the states with Cairo and Alexandria in them you wont get a merchant from Egypt charter, but if you only add the CoTs to your TC you get a 90% penalty to all other provinces, not gaining anything from them.

Thanks in advance.

This below was the game in question.

I think the real answer is that it is all very situational. From a pure min-max standpoint the best way to use TCs is to find a 5 province area and TC that, then build the company depot and maybe the trade buildings in each province if you are hovering around the 50% mark for that region. In most trade company regions that will get you most of the bonuses for the least amount of GC and monetary investment. But just because it is better in a spreadsheet doesn't mean it is always better for your particular situation.
There are some cases where I find that the immediate return from TCing all of the provinces is more beneficial than min maxing it in this way. For example, if Indonesia is accessible and I am trying to scale up, sometimes I will blitz the entire region and TC all the provinces. This way I get a huge, immediate income boost that lets me scale up really quickly for minimum monarch point costs. Of course, doing that makes more sense in say Indonesia than the steppes, as the trade goods are far more valuable.

You are also not locked into keeping a province in a trade company forever. You can always remove provinces from the trade company later. You will just have to eat the penalty, but imo the penalty isn't that severe anyway. Personally I just leave everything I put in a TC in the TC.

I say that the goods produced bonus is not significant enough to leave provinces outside a TC. However, there are reasons to only TC CoT's, mainly if you are blobbing hard and you are already over your GC. In this case, TC'ing everything will use double your GC, and if you haven't unlocked Town Halls yet (which happens at adm 22), you will suffer from being above your GC. Meanwhile, territories are free from GC usage if you place a courthouse in them.

This was the answer I was looking for. Thanks. Yeah in the Persia game I was never over GC so that didnt matter. But I didnt realize TC had double GC, good to know for future blobbing sessions. So, if you're playing tall its all right to TC everything, if you're blobbing just TC Cots. Thanks
