I will be working on Election related Events for USA and Germany, and possibly other nations. The US alone will have over 70 Presidential Election events from 1992-2008, allowing for a multitude of candidates, elections, etc. Germany will have at between 6 and 26, I am still working on planning them.

All potential US Presidential Candidates, over the 1992-2008 period:

Republicans:
George H. W. Bush
Patrick Buchanan
Dan Quayle
Colin Powell
Bob Dole
George W. Bush
John McCain
Mitt Romney
Fred Thompson
Mike Huckabee
Ron Paul

Democrats:
Bill Clinton
Paul Tsongas
Jerry Brown
Al Gore
John Kerry
Howard Dean
John Edwards
Hillary Clinton
Barack Obama

Independents:
Ross Perot

I guess you know what to do, but to be honest, I only know H.W Bush, Colin Powell, George W. Bush, Dan Quayle (Civ4 FTW!), John McCain, Ron Paul, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Hillary Clinton and Obama. No idea about the others... :wacko:

Assasination Event

In 1990 there was an Assasination attempt on Wolfgang Schäuble (German Minister of Security) On 12. October, which with bad luck could have been successful.

How about this?

Code:
event = {
	id = 2000
	random = no
	country = GER

	name = "Assassination attempt on Wolfgang Schäuble"
	desc = "On October 12th, 1990, an assassination attempt was made on Minister of the Interior Wolfgang Schäuble, who was campaigning in Oppenau. Although the attack would confine Schauble to a wheelchair for the rest of his life, he survived and has remained active in German politics for over twenty years."

	style = 0
	picture = "Schauble_Wolfgang_Large"

	date = { day = 12 month = october year = 1990 }

	action_a = {
		name = "Wolfgang Schäuble survives"
		ai_chance = 90

	}
	action_b = {
		name = "Wolfgang Schäuble dies"
		ai_chance = 10
		command = { type = sleepminister which = 5 }

	}
}

Looks good. The only problem is that AoD doesn't support percentage options, like the option A having a 10% chance of sleepminister and 90% chance of survival... but, this is as close as we can get.

Been thinking of a few good event chains. Australia had a referendum on becoming a republic in the late 1990's. Thailand had the construction of the HTMS Chakri Naruebet. The US had the DADT issue and an attempt at national healthcare in the early 1990's.

Possible events for Germany could be the right wing riots in Hoyerwerda (17- 23 September 1991), the right wing assasination in Mölln (23.November 1992)
and the Solingen arson attack (28-29 May 1993)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solingen_arson_attack_of_1993

They all had serious political impact and could rise dissent and be used as starting point for a ahistorical right wing Germany

Another event could be the move of the german government to Berlin decided on 20 june 1991 with multiple choices for the capital (Berlin, Staying in Bonn, move to some other important german town ...)

Edit: Another event would be Germany paying money to the Usa, so they dont have to be involved in Gulf War 1 (or let them engage as ahistorical choice)

Not true. Here's a very good example proving you wrong. Just have a random trigger.

Code:
event = {
	id = 397
	random = no
	country = CZE
	style = 0

	trigger = {
		random = 80
		government = communist
		}

	date = { year = 1948 month = march day = 11 }
	offset = 1
	deathdate = { year = 1948 month = march day = 12 }

	name = "EVT_397_NAME"
	desc = "EVT_397_DESC"
	picture = "minister_died"

	action_a = {
		name = "OK"
		command = { type = set_domestic which = democratic value = 2 }
		command = { type = set_domestic which = political_left value = 10 }
		command = { type = headofstate which = 24042 }
		command = { type = headofgovernment which = 24147 }
		command = { type = foreignminister which = 24063 }
		command = { type = armamentminister which = 24154 }
		command = { type = ministerofsecurity which = 24156 }
		command = { type = ministerofintelligence which = 24158 }
		command = { type = sleepminister which = 24055 }
		}
	}

17.Mai 1992 : Hans Dietrich Genscher (German Foreign Minister) resigns because of Age

Code:

	country = GER

	name = "Klaus Kinkel, new Foreign Minister"
	desc = "On May 18th, 1992, Hans-Dietrich Genscher, citing health reasons, resigned as Foreign Minister and was replaced by Klaus Kinkel of the Free Democratic Party (FDP). "
	style = 0
	picture = "Kinkel_Klaus_Large"

	date = { day = 18 month = may year = 1992 }

	action_a = {
		name = "Ok"
		command = { type = foreignminister which = 14 }
		command = { type = sleepminister which = 3 }

	}

}

(including the ones in post 12):confused:

I'd really like to help with this project. I can write events and do research. let me know what you need. willing to work on any country you need events for

This is a repost of something that was posted else where before this event thread was open

The UK was in recession in 1990(with the onset the year before in 1989), 1991, 1992. There is a good website that has the key facts. Use any good / popular search engine with: uk economy 1990 bized

Also in 1990 Margaret Thatcher was back-stabbed by her party. During which she asked every Tory MP in to a room and asked their opinion on the state of the party. There were two MP's who were in the room next door listening in to every conversation. There was an excellent documentary by the BBC presented by the former Tory MP Michael Portillo(loosing his seat in 1997).

Some events for the UK should ideally take this into account.
