When a tax collector dies:
1. The gold should instantly dissapear, as it currently does in M2.
2. The gold should be distributed among nearby allied heroes, like it did in M1.
3. The gold should be distributed among nearby enemy heroes and/or monsters.
4. The dead tax collector should turn into a tombstone(normal duration) with the gold he currently has, which can be looted by Rogues of either side.
5. The gold should be added to the gold amount of the creature that killed the collector.

Yeah, it basically comes down to the monster (hero?) getting the gold, so it can be distributed to it's killer(s).

Or Ratman can "retreat" into the Sewers again (like they could in MFKS1) and effectively it's lost then. Hunt him down fast!

Give it to the monster!

Stupid question perhaps, but what happens to the gold now, all lost?

I didn't vote, because I would like to see two things:

1. Some monsters collect the gold and take it to the lair, which is then available to heroes that destroy the lair.
2. Some monsters leave the gold there, allowing any hero to save it.
2a. Some heroes choose to pocket it themselves.
2b. Some heroes bring it to the palace.

A split between 4 and 5 would be good.

Wha? I've never seen a Ratman do this... you're talking about after they steal from the Marketplace?

In the suggestion thread, there is something like that with as an addition the money being used to upgrade the lairs. Could be open to rogues loot skill too.

With the pace of the economy, 2a and 2b might be doubles. It wont be long before the money pocketed by the hero finds its way back to the coffers.

Could be, could be not. They just have the possibility to run and re-enter the lair they came from, like Dragons could too.

I've never seen this nor Dragons do it, since they usually are going around and hitting buildings/heros. I guess a way to see it is to not build anything and let them spawn and see what they do when there's nothing to hit but the Palace?

I'll give it a try with in mind the fact they will always have something else than the castle to hit as peasants and tax collectors are respawned.

Confirmed: ratmen can enter back a lair/keep. I am not sure that it is forcefully the lair they come from. It does not matter though. They do that quite often actually, witdrawing from the battle and going back to a lair.

Don't know wheter they can only re-enter the lair they came from or any "hospitable" lair (sewers, broken sewer mains and ratman lairs for Ratman), never paid *that* much attention. But I have seen them retreating often enough.

The beginning Dragon of "Tomb of the Dragon King" also does this from time to time. You should have seen it if you played it 30+ times like I have. :p

Weird. Do you not have enough heros around to fight them when they come out?

Of course the beginning dragon in that mission (The King, right?) returns to his lair, but I figured that was specially scripted since he is the boss, after all. I didn't think regular dragons do it because they seem to head for my settlement and stay around to destroy as much as they can, including the Palace when there's nothing left. I've never seen them retreat to fight another day...

Yeah, I do. But not always are they (Ratman) dead before fleeing the scene.

You've got "The Mighty Dragon" and "Tomb of the Dragon King" mixed up :p. It's just a regular ordinary dragon in the Tomb.

Those from lairs can. Obviously the ones spawned from the sides of the map not. Maybe you should play more maps with Dragon Lairs and study them :D.

I never quote any escaped from death, that's weird. The only case was the Rat King map but even in this one I didn't quote it for Ratmen only the King.
Wrong game.
