lets assume you can carry 2 BC per DN.
On a CR CNC fleet you have 54, with CR taking 6 and DN taking 18.

CR config:
1 CNC CR 6cp
1 Supply CR 6cp || This config gives us 7 Combat ships, we have enough to split forces and do scouting as well a set up missile/torpedo traps.
7x Combat CRs 41cp
total 54/54

DN Config
1 CNC CR 6cp
1 Supply CR 6cp
1 Combat CR 6cp ||This config gives us 3 combat ships, very powerful but no real scouting ability. Easy to flank/bypass or barrage from range
2 Combat DNs 36cp
total 54/54cp

DN carrier config
1 CNC CR 6cp
1 Supply CR 6cp
1 Combat CR 6cp || This config give us 5 combat ships, and 2 carrier ships that can take a large beating. It gives us scouts that are faster, and replaceable.
2 Carrier DN 36cp
+4 BCs 0cp (replaceable, carrier has spares)
total 54/54cp

what advantage, have you played the game, combat AI is clueless, you gonna micro manage every ship in your fleet?

in current game design, you are better of with normal cruiser rather then BC for any task

Boy,

What a way to prove his point....

To be honest, the impression I got from a first glance was that the BC had far fewer guns, but when you tally them up there isn't that much of a difference. I agree it seems to be meant as more of a mobile harassment platform than a ship of the line with firepower focused in one direction.

I'm quite curious now to compare this to the Liir/Zuul BCs though. I can put up some screenies tonight if other people want to dissect it too; I have a feeling it has a bit more firepower than the Tarka BC here, but I'm not sure. Also not sure how speed/maneuverability/durability compares. (Because let's be honest, most of us check out the guns first. ;))

keep in mind that there is not any "I win" techs, and that the method you use available technology and ships is more important than their overall firepower. There is no absolute "better" for anything. Different things are designed for different roles, using them to replace another role means you aren't using them to your advantage. They will do the job, but you will have much more luck if you treat them as a separate class of ship, its a round hole square peg thing.

It would be a very boring game if your choices on ship type and deployment methods didn't change anything.

edit:
i cant access liir BC/BS for some reason
They are bugged, but some people have more luck with them.

O.k I just checked this on the latest patch, mind you I haven't reached anti-matter, I have this bug that cause the game to freeze if I press the back button twice fast enough...

Anyway, the fusion era hunters got a one hell of an alpha strike, most of their turrets can and do fire forward. DN CnC will give you 91 CP, each hunter carrier can carry 3 BC but no spares, anyway it's bugged, I couldn't load any hunters on my carrier :(.

So, assuming that you got a battle fleet consisting only of DN you could theoretically have:
1 CnC DN
4 HunterCarrier DN x 3 BC each for a total of 12 BC or 17 ships including c&c and carriers.

Personally I would trade one HunterCarrier to a BR carrier for PD escorts (9 BR).

of you really want to have some fun with tones of ships than build this fleet:

1 CnC DN
12 BR Carriers CR x3 BR each
For a total of 49 ships.

I myself was surprised what the cruisers looked like as well as that a Leviathan didn't carry them.

there is a carrier

but it cost 64 turns to prototype it with 16000 production planet oh and it also cost 275millions

The Liir BC/BS seem to be under cruiser and dreadnought respectively in the design screen. For each of those classes there's a set of command/engine sections at the bottom of each list that you can't select until you pick a battleX mission section, which are also at the bottom of the list. A little confusing, but similar to freighters, SDB, etc...

I'm not sure if they'll work in-fleet for me or not. Just finished the research last night, haven't had time to play since. I've got a prototype finished, but it's showing up under reserves, and not in the battlerider screen. I guess we'll see what happens when I try to put them in a fleet ;)

Dono if they work as I haven't tried them but from some of the complaints I have read over on the Kerberos forums the Kingfisher modules are suppost to be Battlerider latch points so that you can take a few into battle on non-carrier units.

Yeah, Wiki says each module can carry 2 Heavy Battleriders... so a Tarka DN could carry 4, which is a HUGE force multiplier as that is an Armor DN.... Suddenly a 1 DN command, 2DNs armor, spawn 8+ Battlerides? Sweeeeettttt...
