Tank variant mechanics

Hi,

New HOI4 player here.

Can someone please explain the mechanics (or simply provide the answer) to whether or not two non-variant tanks would provide a similar strength as a tank destroyer and a personnel destroyer?

I'm learning to play with the English and have seen some reports that I can offset the lack of man power by building mixed units of men and tanks. I'm wondering if I should be a TD & a PD or just two standard tanks in there.

There is no such thing as 'strength'.

2 tanks would have higher breakthrough meaning they are much better at attacking.

A TD and SP ART would be much cheaper but not are more suited to defending.
