I can't decide myself about attributs priority for a real tank in Tyranny (not Off-Tank & DPS).

1. Resolve => Finess => Quickness => Vitality ...
2. Finesse => Quickness => Resolve => Vitality ...

First priority with Defenses or Deflections

Resolve
= +2 Endurance defense / +2 Magic defense / +2 Will defense

VS

Parry = Primary (*1.5) by Finesse
Dodge = Primary (*1.5) by Quickness
Armor Deflection = 1% by Finesse

Why hesitate ? Because Deflection score will increase alone to progressively that character will Fight. Unlike Defense score.

What do you think ?

Take the Arrow Shield talent in the Agility tree that lets you use Parry for ranged attacks (making Dodge worthless), get a Parry focused shield, take the 2 +shield effectiveness talents, and train Parry 5 times a level. Nobody will be able to touch you. I went for Finesse first (for the accuracy mostly, but the bonus to parry is nice too).

I went with the Disfavored, so I didn't really feel like I had to boost Resolve because of the aura.

You can actually do decent damage, so I've prioritized Finesse > Might > Quickness.

Your reasoning intrigued me, but I'm not feeling the nobody will be able to touch me part of it... at least not on PotD. Think you could explain why I'm even gaining dodge skill? Shouldn't every attack be made vs. parry with this build?

Well .. tanking right now is broken. In Poe you could play at max difficulty by ussing your tanks and skills correctly, here mobs just ignore dissengagement and go for the lower defenses characters ignoring tanks.

For stats, I advice dodge and ignore parry, getting a little training with ranged weapons and getting the "use dodge instead of parry" and the " reflect arrows back to the atackers" talents.

In the end, ranks > all, and for some reason, it seams dodge increases faster by the number of ranged mobs in the game.

Me I think going unarmed and not having to spend at least a talent point for this is far superior to going with shields.
Yes you will have slightly lower dodge than you could have parry in the early game, but in the midgame you will be better overall cause you were able to spend more talents.
Going unarmed will do the opposite from the talent, you will roll with dodge vs both melee and ranged.

I think the huge Parry bonuses from going shield and having the extra 80% from Shield Mastery 2 is worth the tradeoffs, especially on PotD.

You can get Arrow Shield at level 2 if you choose Dual Shield as your secondary and take an Agility Talent (I picked Slice).

It's worth it early game ofc, my point was more mid to lategame oriented, atm I do fine with dodge solo Potd and I think once you reach something around level 12 it will not matter at all whether you have a shield bonus of something like +20, but having 1-2 extra talent points is huge.
Ofc Once you're high level level 20ish you're op at any rate and will have plenty of talents to choose, but alo plenty of dodge if you went with unarmed. :)

With shield mastery 2, your shield gives around 50 Parry.

You really do turn into a monster really quickly playing solo though :). I'll give unarmed a whirl on my next playthrough.
If you can pull your parry monster build off on solo PotD, I'll be listening super intently.

How important is deflection sub-stat anyway for an armoured tank, seeing heavy armour does not contribute to it? Obviously with leather you'd want to stack it spire-high.

My initial knee jerk was to put finesse to 8 and keep it there.

Dodge/parry and accuracy have diminishing returns here unlike PoE so over stacking them seems like a bad idea to me. There are also a number of enemies that would attack other defences, nullifying a large part of your build investment if you focused on physical defences too hard.

Given that most heals are a % value, good HP pool is actually a pretty solid option since it works vs all forms of damage at least and makes heals cast on you a lot more powerful.

Also, pure tanks look useless to me as it's hard to hold aggro and enemies ignore them most of the time. If you take the taunt aura with main and train athletics as much as possible for it to work maybe you can pull it off.

Heavy armour is kinda bad since the damage values are high, so you're much better off stacking deflect tbh (and doing more damage in the process)

So:
-You still want dodge = parry or parry = dodge since leveling one is certainly better than leveling both
-You want good parry or dodge but don't get too crazy about it
-If you actually want to reliably tank most enemies w/o getting wounded you'd need a decent health pool
-You still want to do damage
-Light armour is better than heavy for deflection and more damage, you'd want finesse to improve it

Overall going max finesse + light with parry = dodge from agility and then investing into vitality and some damage stat (might or wits depending on build) seems like a decent option for a tankier char for me. Might + vitality + finesse would cover all saves except magic pretty decently and wits + vitality + finesse would only lack endurance. Well, you can't have everything. In terms of priorities I'd say finesse > might/wits (you still want to do damage) > vitality

The light armor + deflection part is another reason why I prefer dodge/unarmed.
You will get to the point where you have 100% deflection with Spectral Blur very early if you choose to max finesse and quickness 1st (it's what I did solo).
(Quickness doesn't help deflection but ofc if you use dodge you will wanna have quickness)
I totally agree with MD about Health i level Vit now, that I maxed Finesse and quickness, resolve can wait till later game and there is also 50% spell deflection on one of the magic talents.
