What am I doing wrong here ?

I play the great Nordic war as Denmark; after about 1-2 years, and bashing holstein back, I rush in with a 35+ army, siege Holstein, and conquer it .. however I cannot annex it ?

As far as I can see, Holstein only consist of a single territory .. I win a major war .. 6 stars; and can ask for lots of money .. but cannot get Holstein as part of Denmark :(

Help pls.

Yep !

Have anyone tried this with success ?? Here's what I do :

1) I take a loan of either 600 or 800 GP and build a +20 army; few horses, some artillery
2) Transfer the forces of 8 from Sealand to Jutland, and reorganise them
3) Knock down the 7+ army of holstein
4) .. and my army goes into 'siege' mode
5) Wait 1-1½ year, and the city breaks
6) Offer them peace; and I cannot annex it.

Heeeeeeeelp .. I wanna sit on Hamburg/Holstein :D

This doesn't really answer your question, but I take it that you don't storm the city since it takes so long time to break? Then you don't need so much infantry. Buy lots of artillery instead and watch the walls crumble! Or use the infantry to storm. But just sieging with 20k infantry doesn't do much.

You need 7 stars (full row) for an annexation. Why you do not get that I cannot aswer. I too have once attacked another small country, taken all provinces and killed all armies and still obly ended up with 6 stars. Possible bug perhaps ??

Well, maybe a bug; yesterday I tried to 'walk on' and take Hansa instead; that worked fine.

I'm gonna try a couple of times again, just to be 100% sure;

The remark, that I need 7 stars is correct; it's just wierd -- If I conquer the single and only territory, it should give me all of them .. and not only 6 ..

Improbable but not impossible : have you checked that Holstein doesn't have any other province ? (esp. colony) ? If so, you haven't conquered 'all' Holstein, just its capital...

With Sweden, I never managed to finish off Denmark because, God knows how, Lugansk was a Dannish province...

That was my initial thought as well;

However, I haven't found somewhere I can click (e.g. on the capital of a country), and see the number of territories/colonies is possesses;

I've tried to look through the complete worldmap, but haven't found anything (maybe a tiny island somewhere) ..

Again, has anyone conquered Holstein - as Denmark - with success, and annexed it ?

There isn't anywhere you can click to see a minor's number of colonies or provinces or anything. As for islands, be sure to check St. Helena (Denmark had it in my game), Cap Verde, Hawaii, Tahiti, Fiji and the Falklands. Those are the most remote, I think.

you can unveil the worldmap by pressing F12 and then type in a **cheatcode**. however it spoils the game because you then spoil the fun in exploring the world bit by bit. try it to se wether they got a tiny colony somewhere.

EDIT NOTE by Johan. We do not want the cheatcodes to be printed on the boards please :) It was a mistake to include them on the CD.

When you conquer the capital of a country, you get their maps. So you can be sure that you 'can' see all of their provinces (no help if the whole world is known however) and you have to begin the tedious work of searching for the last colony.

(My favourite is this small island near the coast of Oman: I realized it was a separate province only after several months of play...)

hmm .. I just checked again;

Same deal - took Holstein; had a major victory .. 7 stars (not 6, sorry) - but still no possibility of annexing it.

How do I dead-sure check if holstein has a colony or territory somewhere ? - is there a bulletproof method ?

Look to see if Denmark is still allied to Russia. If you are at war with Russia and haven't made a seperate peace treaty with them it appears Denmark 'hopes' that Russia will come to the rescue. This looks to be the way with any nation. If you haven't either beaten their allies or made peace with them they wont accept annexation.
