Not to change the topic (or maybe that is what I'm trying to do) but one thing that I've always liked to do (and may or may not be historically valid for this time period) is have the option to carve new states after wars are over as part of the peace treaty. For example, a strong German Minor begins to eat up all the small one-province minors. France declares war when Luxemberg falls and takes Luxemberg and a number of other provinces. Instead of asking to make these lands part of France they should be able to demand the reistatement of their independence, as Vassals of France of course.

So you make them part of France and release as vassals... Remember that either you ask for those territories or yourself or for the other guy to release them.. for him it's the same result - loss of territory so there's really no point in making it a diferent thing, as it would cost the same warscore.

For sunnis, but i doubt you'd have many Shiites believing that. Also I don't think it would have gone over well had the OE decided to press its authority over Mughuls. It's also debatable whether or not had the OE not declared themselves a Caliphate when they did, if the Mughuls wouldn't ha shortly thereafter, especially after Akbar's rule. They Mughul Empire certainly could have as it had the clout to do so, but it didn't for any number of reasons, not the least of which was that OE already had done so.
Yes the Shiite Safavids are infidel heretics and should be cleansed from the face of the earth. As per the Mughal Empire, Ottomans have always been benevolent overlords to their loyal subjects and provided them with advisors, officers, gunsmiths and cannons to defend the Dar-ul Islam against the infidel. Ottoman flag was raised all over the Indian Ocean from Atceh to Zanzibar and Ottoman Navy was welcome in every single Moslem port.

Anyway, this has been long discussed in the AGCEEEP thread and agreed that most of the cores the OE gets are purely to get them to conquer the areas and have no historic backing. I will not continue to argue this for people who use extremely weak arguments. I have found nothing saying Melmet's wife was related to the Byzantium Emperor.

Mehmed II married Princess Helen of Eastern Roman Empire (daughter of Demetrios Paleologus, b. Apr-1442, d. 1470) and has powerful and legitimate claims on Roman territories.
Besides, El Hazard is a historical core of Ottoman Empire, thus thou shalt submit too. Acceptance eases the pain.

Except in the current case there's the BB to consider. If you use a Causus Belli that you get when you support someones independence and they are annexed you shouldn't be penalized for reinstating their government.

i herd that Mehmed II was also a pedophile (wonder where that would give him cores  ), and for sure was not the first sultan married to a Byzantine royal family (if he was indeed maried to one in the first place). The Osmanli had wives from the Komneni, Paleologi and most other royal families of the Balkans, whether the ruling line had any connections to those wives is unknown, due to the harem's secret.

Well, I actually red it on several occasions, but blast me if i can remember most of 'em. I remember though one of them though, Gibbon mentions that Mehmed had a thing for young boys.

Well, young is very relative, and 15-16 was not considered as pedophilia back then. That was the age range of the few fine young men Mehmed II showed his imperial interest.

Also, this way, if you loose a war, you can offer to release provinces (probably not as vassals, though ;) ).

Not that this seems likely to happen to the player very often :D .

Yup, its the BB wars that make me surrender provinces... Nothing like 60 years of war with 4 alliances fighting you at once after all your allies have dishonoured and your relations are so bad no one will take you (Makes me think of Byzantium in Abberation...)
