Do you think it would make sense to move IC from consumer goods to production as SU if you think war with Germany is coming soon? And then after being DOWed by Germany bring back dissent to 0?

In a current game my IC consumer demand jumped from 120 (while Germany at war with France) to 300 (after Vichy event). Germany might attack me soon, so I wonder if it would make sense to shift ~ 100 IC to boost my production. After Germany DOWs SU IC comsumer demand will be down to ~40, so reducing dissent will be fairly cheap.

However, problems I see are:

- Dissent affects combat efficency. So until I can reduce dissent I might have even more problems holding back the Germans
- If Germany doesn't DOW soon, my economy would be seriously screwed for the years to come.

Any opinion?

BTW - does anybody know how dissent exactly effects combat efficency? Is it 1:1?

2 bits

Dissent has more negative implications, it hurts your economy and your military so reducing that should always be your number 1 priority, you get the most bang for the buck.

You dont know that Germany will DOW, you do know that dissent will hurt you either way. Deal with the dissent as best you can but throw some IC's into production anyway, Russia is a numbers game ISE, pump out malitia if you have to, put them in level 3 forts and they are just as good as infantry.

Hm, not sure if it is that simple.
Say I can take 100 IC out of consumer goods before war starts. That would mean 25 more Inf within 3 month. Infanterie that is available when the war starts. I gain 300 IC*month.

To reduce dissent again to 0 after war starts, I would only have to put in maybe ~100 IC*month because of lower consumer goods demand (not sure about the absolute number, I should check). So not only do I have more Inf when the war starts, but I also gain netto ~150 IC*month (very rough estimate, taking into account that IC drops). In addtion 100 IC*month can be tunneled into consumer production within 10 days to get dissent back to 0 again (simply assign 300 additional IC to consumer good for 10 days).

So benefits are: IC gain + more troops ready when war starts.

The crucial thing is of course to make a good prediction when the war might start.

In my current game getting troops quick is especially important, since Italy+ Germany were hiding their newly build troops in the deployment queue (@Viss + Boss: neat trick, you really got me here). So while I thought I outnumber them comfortably and were concentrating on research, it suddenly turns out that Italy has ~100 divs and Germany ~90 divs, with a *lot* mech inf. I only have ~150 divs, but up to pare with Germanies ground technology.

There is no US player in this game (Japan neither), the only other player is UK. So it will be up to SU to fight the main bulk of the Axis ground troops.

Just curious, but why did your consumer goods jump up so much?
It is correlated to democratic countries war entry. It seems SU has an internal "war entry", used for the consumer good demand.

well

Given that new piece of data, yeah build the troops your going to have to anyway. Dissent is managable but since you now know that troops were hidden it was probably done so so you wouldnt produce more or to reduce supply cost. Either way your going to have to deal with the Axis, the UK cant believe me I play the UK often in MP, the UK has a role and can offer you some options by quick raids in europe but thats about it early, unless you need reseources then the UK can help you out.

Build the troops now because if your timing is off your done, and the dissent will lower anyway with the DOW by germany.

Yeah, right, forgot about that (normally I always have dissent at 0, so I never noticed it.) Do you know how much dissent is lowered?

I did some testing, it doesn't work out.

If you lower consumer production by 50 IC, you get 0.1 percent dissent hit per day.

To lower it by 0.1 after DOW by Germany, I had to tunnel 150 IC extra into consumer production.

In addition it seems that I didn't get a dissent drop after Germany dowed me. Maybe that was removed in one of the patches?

Does anybody knows how dissent in respect to consumer goods production is calculated? It appears that not to be a linear correlation. :D

I know SU has a war entry and that it is tied to consumer goods, I was just wondering what happened in the world that made your war entry plummet so much. I know that in previous patches, WE plummeted when Germany lost any VP provinces, and I was hoping they fixed that. I was just wondering if that is what happened to you.

It was the Vichy event after a very brief German-French war.

AFAIK not. Germany only raced to Paris, conquered a few more northern provinces and then Vichy happened.
