So when a happiness event occurs you seem to get 100% production of a random resource for one turn in the colony having the event.

Question 1: is it random or is there a way to determine which resource will benefit from the event?

Question 2: Can I put all my colonist workers on the affected resource the turn of the event to maximize the resources production or would I have to do that the turn before the event happens?

I have to say, if there is no way to manipulate gains from happiness event, then happiness seems extremely underwhelming unless it affects morale or other aspects of the game Im not aware of. 100% is just one extra turn worth of a resource.

1: Its random.
2: No. That bonus was determined from last turns resource yield.

Its a free bonus for having more Happiness than you Colony needs, and that isn't good enough for you?

Not good enough to prioritize happiness above the minimum amount needed. So now I know to reallocate colonists from happiness so long as it doesnt go into the negative. 0 is the magic number for happiness it seems.

Well it would be a little bit weird if pushing Happiness was more productive than pushing a specific resource. Everyone would just push Happiness.
So therefore it has to be less good than focussing on a specific resource.

Once you hit the maximum number of slots for that resource however, things become different...
