So done, the only game i played on a smartphone/tablet last year was pokemon go. I did play a lot of nintendo 3ds though but you failed to ask about other handheld platforms.

If you do bring out Tablet games, whether they're unique new games, spinoffs suited for mobile, or modified ports for touchscreens, please consider supporting Windows tablets and touchscreen interfaces. No reason to not port new/alt versions to Steam/Win10 store, and if we do get full versions of the existing games, I would love for existing paradox games to have full touchscreen support patched in for when I play on my Surface Book :) You could switch UIs in the menu or whatnot.

Please also consider supporting Nintendo Switch for phone/tablet ports if it could work on the platform. I'd definitely buy things to take on the go there too :)

At least they won't need to simplify it for phone/tablet use.....that's already been done.

I listed my devices as desktop PC and "other" (Stupidphone). I've got desktop PCs in my face for 8-14 hours a day as it is (work and home), and gaming on a phone while driving between the two really isn't likely to end up well ("No, officer, I wasn't texting at the time of the accident."), so any mobile games are a definite "no buy".

As has been pointed out, the computing resources to run a complex strategy game like most of Paradox's titles practically demand a serious processor, and the wealth of both graphical and text information calls for as large of a display as possible, neither of which lends itself to implementation on a small mobile device. The audience for simple touch-screen games and that for complex strategy games may have some overlap (I'm sure there are a few people who are into both dirt-bike racing and Origami paper folding), but it would basically call for two totally separate development teams with little in the way of shared resources.....a risky move for Paradox in my opinion. It certainly doesn't benefit me in any way, since success in the mobile venture would be likely to draw development funding away from the PC games, and failure in the mobile venture could seriously impact the ability of the company to fund other games, including those for PC.

Mobile, especially, and tablets are more suitable to arcade games and those a minimal amount of memory, processor and display area, though they will grow in the future. Porting any of the grand strategy games to a tablet can only be done by reducing the complexity of the games, as I suspect Civilization has found.

Your grand strategy games are based on and need a reasonably powerful system.Please do not try to squeeze them onto a lower specified system.

Apart from the needs of the game, you should be looking at making use of the functionality in touch screen displays and supporting PCs with multiple displays. Even with CK2 borderless or bordered it will not go any large than 1920x1200 so I am limited to only one of my 24" monitors and only the primary one. Normal windows can be extended to cover both monitors if I need to, like Excel.

Please remember your history and that, for your grand strategy games, your users may not want to work on a cut down system on a small display which, even if it is high resolution, will still be small to see and difficult to control.

I once had a few games. They were okay nithing special. But very usefull when my cousins and other relatives were arround. I gave them my phone so They don't bother me anylonger.

But In the end they always wanted it. They took it without asking etc.

So I deleted all my games and never looked back.

all i am asking is not let PC titles tank because of diverted resources.
I can quell that fear right now ;). Other games won't "suffer" because we are looking into the mobile market.

I don't own a touchscreen phone...just a normal non-touchscreen phone for emergencys only, and I own no tablet as I have a laptop that fulfils all needs. Guess this survey will be flown threw.

I feel that if PDX does not play to their strengths, they're bound to disappoint (as they've done with Stellaris to many people). If they can transfere those strengths to other devices, fine. I still won't play anything on such a tiny screen.

That's why you should play King of Dragon Pass on your mobile, if you play anything. A game that survived the PC->mobile transition remarkably well. :D

Wow! Great news, didn't know it was there. Perhaps it's time to start playing mobile games!
A# ported it to iPhone/iPad a few years ago - though rewriting it is probably more accurate, as dealing with 15 years old poorly documented code written to be compiled on a compiler and in an environment that hasn't been used for a decade is no fun, nor is bugfixing it - and ended up earning more money that way than they ever did when it was released for PC in 1999.

It has simplified sheep and barley management, but frankly those were not all that interesting options in the original game. The adventures, the raiding, the clan ring management, the trading, the heroquesting, the graphics and so on is unchanged except that the user interface has been adapted to the new device. It also has a lot of bugfixes and a number of new adventure scenes.

A# seeing that they were on to a good thing, decided to write a new game of the same type in the Glorantha setting, targeting mobiles as primary platform. It is expected 2017/2018 (no hurry).

KODP was later ported by HeroCraft to Android and then back again to PC from the HeroCraft Android port, but the latter port to PC was a lazy port, so it feels more clunky on the PC in its newest up to date port than in the original. So currently the most up to date version and the one with least bugs is on iPhone/iPad, then Android, then PC.
