I've been trying to come up with a tag switch strategy that would allow for a fast WC. Starting options are Ming, Ottomans, or Timurids. No states unless to tag switch. The plan has to be reasonable wrt expansion path. I assume the best switches are ones that grant the most cores or permanent claims.
Ming - 10% CCR
- Can form Shan -> Manchu, Japan, Mughals, Poland, Persia (can't form as Mughals), France, England, Italy, Spain.
Pros: Highest starting development. Bonuses from reforms.
Cons: Mandate. MP needed for early tag switches.
Ottomans: - 20% CCR
- Can form Poland, Italy, France, England, Spain, Mughals, Manchu, Qing, Japan.
Pros: Can become HRE emperor and EoC. CCR in NI. Starting location. Dhimmi conversion.
Cons: Lots of AE as Europe and India are revealed at the start.
Timurids - No CCR
- Can form Golden Horde, then realistically only Yuan or Qing from Manchu, Mughals, or some of the European tags as losing the razing mechanic is too big of a penalty.
Pros: Is Horde. Starting location. Tributaries. HRE/EoC. Europe starts in fog of war.
Cons: High unrest. Rebel conversion.
I left off tags that don't give enough cores or permanent claims to matter, ex. Andalusia, Algiers, Scandinavia, etc. Forming Russia requires colonies. Spain can't be formed from France and vice versa. I believe there are no religion restrictions besides for Qing/Yuan which requires EoC and being non-Muslim for Spain. For Ottomans and Timmy going the HRE route, emperor would need to be claimed before tag switches. Japan might not be worth it as there's not a lot of war score in that region.
It would probably be best to use tags with CCR for as long as possible to conquer land that do not get claims, then leave regions that do get claims for the end. As non-hordes do not get free CBs, religious may actually be better than admin as the first idea.
My guess is it's a tie between Cathoman and Timurids. The mandate mechanic is too bothersome.
