Ive Been playing alot and I think I have refined my strategy, especially after last night when I got my ass kicked.

Army Groups

1.) My army group typically has about 20 Infantry, (10 arty,5 Anti-Tank, 3 Engineer, 2 Anti Aircraft ) around 7 Panzer Divisions, and about 13 Mech/Motorized Divisions. I hope to have about 3 or 4 Army Groups at my peak in any game, 2 when I start my wars.

2.) DO NOT split up your airforce into small groups, if you have more than 12 planes then split them up by 12's, give each army group 12 planes and youll be great.

3.)Defensive Army groups.

About 20 Mountain Divisions, as you as germany will probably be fighting in the Alps to help italys sorry butt =0 and in the Balkens, and other places in the world with Mountains. Can have varying brigade types.

Also have a reserve of 30 Infantry divisions with Engineer Brigades, these can also help with river assaults.

In all, in my games I hope to build up a airforce of 60 Planes army of 190 Divisions. Dont worry about Navy as germany, as you wont use it, but build a bunch of transies.

Defense

1.) In a front of 3 or more territories have a reserve in the middle territory. so the front would have, for example, (Commas seperate territories), 6 infantry divisons, 6 infantry divisions and 6 mech divisions, 6 infantry divisions, 6 infantry divisions 3 mech and 3 panzer divisons and 6 infantry divisons. This way if a break through occurs in any one of your territories you can move your mobile reserves back a province and allow your infantry to catch up.

Offense

1.) Never attack Unless you think you can severely damage their armys in the province and then retreat, or take the province. Never let any of your divisions be destroyed. With 1.03b you can retreat seperate armys, so make sure you retreat armys that have divisions that are about to be destroyed. Especially in my last game. I had 0 manpower and held out against USA for 2 1/2 years. He took berlin twice and each time I counter attacked and destroyed about 12 of his divisions in an encirclement once. I counter attacked with mech and armor divisions, as they inflict more casulties and they take less losses in return and take less men to reinforce to max strength.

2.)Never attack with the whole province unless the province is ONLY connected to one enemy territory and doesnt have a beach.

3.) Attack From multiple directions whenever possible

4.) If attacking the armys in the south of europe , try to encircle the entire alps and then wear down their forces one provence at a time until they are totally defeated.

5.) Never attack with infantry without a brigade attached.

Defense.. AGAIN

1.) Always keep each and EVERY beach protected with one division each, keep 12 reserve divisions in france, 6 in berlin, 6 in denmark, and 6 on the eastern front. to patch up a allied landing. if you do this you will have about 40 divisions at any landing spot in less than a month if you do it this way. Also have a mobile reserve of armor and Mech somewhere in germany or france to provide a quick counter attack if you think you can push them off the beach.

Thats all I can think of right now, but Im sure I have more tactics

Which defense tactic is better?

Massing large groups of forces along a front but leaving "holes" in the front.

OR

occupying the entire front but with smaller forces

NOTE: This assumes you only have enough troops to do one or the other.

When playing the Soviets--and knowing that initially I can't go toe-to-toe with the Germans--I deliberately decide to be stronger in some areas than in others. I'll put the bulk of my forces--and most of my armored reserves--either north or south of the marshes in an effort to channel the German attack. The German will make hay in the less defended direction, but he also has to worry about a long--and growing--flank. Me, I just have to worry about encirclement, but that's always a concern during Barbarossa.

When playing Soviets, just build plain infantry and plain tanks, plus interceptors.

You should have numerical superiority pretty much everywhere except the point Germans choose to attack.

Ignore it, and keep throwing your masses of infantry against them, and they should run out of manpower much earlier than you.

Ah, and of course, appoint Shaposhnikov and research lot of artillery techs.

Just few ideas ;)

some tips:
never ever attack through svamps with armored forces

check the battles closely, if you sense a defeat withdraw instantly.

if you got the manpower try to do 2 pararell pincers for flexibility.

always have a mobile reserv behind your front.

if you see a weak point, dont hesitate and wait for a better oppurtunity.

keep a good atmosphere while playing with others...

Doubles Soviet manpower growth. From over 400 per year to almost 1000. And he is available in 1936

If you want to go with the "Commie Hordes" strategy he's a good one. If you want those T-34's rolling off the assembly line I'd go with the other guy (but Bigglesworth is the Red expert so I'll move on)

Tried out a tactic last night I thought was worth sharing.

Playing as Germany I attacked Romania thru Lwow into the 3 bordering provinces of Piatra Neamt, Lasi, and Beltsy. The bulk of the Romania army was in these provinces so my objective was to engage them and keep them tied up.

I committed all my (limited) armor and air power to Lasi (the central province) with the objective of breaking the front here.

Once thru the "crust" I committed my armor and air power with all speed to Bucuresti leaving only "bread crumb" forces to secure my supply line. Once the capital had fallen I mushroomed out until enough territory existed for puppeting even though the bulk of the Romanian army was still in existence (leaving it for me)
