This is the third thread on it recently, one of the mods locked #2 and neither got an answer from official sources.
The story so far:
- For a long time, the steam page had a list of specs on them. They were a Pentium 4 processor, and an 8800 GT video card. This is the same minimum requirement listed for CK2 and EU4.
- The devs responded to early questions about this (2015) stating that although specs were not locked down, they might be a higher than older games. A second dev stated that he expected it to be roughly in the ballpark of the existing Clausewitz games.
- Recently, a couple of months ago at most, the paradoxplaza store page for HoI4 was updated to the current requirements list, which stated that a GTX 460 graphics card and a Core 2 Quad CPU were the minimum required.
- The Mac reuqirements are much much lower than the windows requirements for some unexplainable reason, which I pointed out in my initial thread.
Considering we're < 3 months from release, I would definitely appreciate an official statement to settle the issue. Even just saying "we haven't completely finalized performance yet" is better than nothin'. In an ideal world, one of the devs would install the latest build on a laptop without discrete graphics and report back on how well it runs.
Personally if the GTX460 is genuinely the lowest it will run at a playable framerate on, even with minimum settings, then I won't be able to play it on my Surface Book, which would disappoint me greatly considering the reason I chose it over a Surface Pro 4 was because of the modest dGPU it had, which is over twice as powerful as the old intel integrated stuff that runs EU4, but much less power than a GTX460. I was specifically thinking of HoI4 when I bought it
