I may be buying a new system soon. Is it still possible to buy single cores with a significantly higher performance that the individual cores of a dual core? In other words is it worth even considering getting a single core if one is buying a low to mid priced system?
If that is true then why do Paradox require 1GB extra memory for Vista users?
It is teh chip architecture clock speed etc etc..... that dictate teh MIP..... or instructions per second...... MIP is ultimately what is the most important.... the others are just factors that dictate the MIP....... not 1 sinlge item but the items combined
which is why you can have an older single core perform better than multi cores, program dependant
for that reason alone iw why i kept a p4 3.4ghz HT around........... well until my i7-920 4.2ghz with two gtx 295's shows up......
Stop typing "teh"! In this and other posts, this rampant typo makes what you have written practically unreadable.
I think what he means is, it's spelled t-h-e.
PCI-e cards have been out for over 4 years now. Most people should be able to purchase a $100 video card, add some ram and game on. If you are a gamer that wants to go beyond playing solitaire, you need to upgrade every once in a while. You can easily build or purchase a system for around $400, (without monitor) that will easily run EU3. Not sure about HOI3, but video cards are so cheap these days, it is crazy.
Laptops are more difficult, but I can't expect my laptop to run games and I don't expect everyone else to suffer old school 2D map graphics that look like they are straight from 1992 just because I wanted to run a game on MY laptop. I'll just save some money and buy a desktop. Not too expensive, and plenty of time to save before release.
I am also pretty sure that the CPU handles all AI, so when they add 3D graphics, the video card will make the biggest difference if your CPU already handled HOI 2.
When you're sixteen and your parents are stingy and the job market is shot, it's kind of hard to upgrade your computer... = /
No offense, Johan, but I'm slightly concerned with your recent high-spec game binge.
I can barely run EU3 on the minimum specs, and EU Rome is only slightly better.
What happened to the days of not caring about graphics and simply sticking to good ol' 2D maps/animations/units/etc? I understand that the AI is a huge part of your games and such, so that already takes up a massive amount of my CPU power. Adding more complex graphics just makes the game that less capable of being played.
And believe me, I LOVE playing your games. I just wish that I COULD without tonnes of lag.
And if you say anything about an expanded market, I will rage so hard you'll be able to feel it all the way in Sweden.![]()
I get the minimum system requirements but I would like the recommended minimum I am going to get this game for my gaming PC which will have no problem running it, but I am also thinking about buying a netbook specifically the asus N10j-A2 and the only thing of concern is the single core Intel Atom processor might not be enough.
Is a GeForce 8400 GS enough?

probably not, u can say that the atom is equivalent to same clock celeron
would there be any options to reduce the load on the cpu?
